How did you attend UT and depart unscathed. My cousin arrived as a conservative and left a fruit cake.
Southwest Texas did change it's name, but I don't recall the new name off hand.
At the time that I attended the University of Texas at Austin I already had some life experiences under my belt. I went in knowing what U.T. was all about, and I went in knowing that many of the Professors were avowed Communists. I knew from some of my previous experiences that these people were basically full of shit, so they were unable to influence me. I stood up to some of my professors, and paid the price for it .
In one case, I had a philosophy professor that used to read quotes from articles in "Da Communard" in class. This professor passed out Xerox copies of one article and had the class write a paper on the article. I was kind of at a loss as to how this exercise fit into to the outline for the course, but I did as I was instructed by the professor. I shot down the points of propaganda in the article, and concluded by adding that "people that would read and believe this garbage were the very people that Lenin was referring to when he coined the term "useful idiots." I ended up getting a B in the course. I aced all of the tests, but got down graded on all of the other papers that I wrote (that coincidentally did follow the course outline).
