Today marks the third Juneteenth America has officially celebrated as a federal holiday. The country would be a whole lot better without it.
We already have a black holiday with Martin Luther King Day. We didn’t need another one, especially one that its proponents wanted to weaponize to browbeat America into giving reparations. Juneteenth enshrines the false idea that blacks are the protagonists of American history while whites are its villains.
When this was first made a holiday, I thought it might one day supplant Independence Day in importance. It was a year after George Floyd. America appeared well on the road to establishing Afrolatry as its state religion. DEI was sweeping through schools and businesses. Anti-white racism was being normalized beyond comprehension, with kids’ cartoons even pushing a hate whitey message. The Left was tearing down monuments left and right–even George Washington and Abraham Lincoln weren’t safe from iconoclasm. Our heritage was deemed too white and oppressive. It seemed like the nation was set to adopt a whole new history of itself, one free of the white man.
What better way to formalize this process than to make Juneteenth the new Independence Day? Instead of celebrating dead white men, America would celebrate blacks (who also somehow freed themselves) and dethrone whites from their central place in America history.
But the Left seems to run into a problem. It’s not that normal Americans are in the thrall of a full-on backlash against the meaning of Juneteenth. They just don’t care enough about it to be impacted by it.

That is not quite right. Juneteenth celebrates the day that it was announced in Texas that slaves in the defeated Confederate States of America had been freed.
The United States clung to slavery until passage of the 13th amendment which occurred later.
It is interesting to note that according to official records Virginia ratified the 13th amendment before Ohio; Louisiana before Minnesota; Arkansas before Connecticut; and Georgia before New Jersey.

The entire Federal government will be treated similarly to British Royalty. Full salary and benefits. Maybe required to participate in a parade once every few months.

Celebrating the folks who bled to free them makes more sense than a holiday about a boat reaching a dock.
Juneteenth needs to be combines with the MLK day, and with the Black History Month. Perhaps call it the Black Liberation Day.
BTW, don’t Hispanics deserve their own holiday? And perhaps the America Indians, the the ‘real’ Indians (from Asia), and a middle-east Muslim holiday? What about a “White European Holiday”, who have a lot more to do with what America became?
Why do blacks deserve more days than others to recognize their contributions to the country? Isn’t that being racist?
The end of slavery was a victory for all American citizens and should be recognized as such.
Maybe everyone should self-identify as black. If a guy can self identify as a girl, a furry creature, or potted plant, what not as black?

Liberal incentives have destroyed the black community.
New groups of people move to the United States, live in the black community because they’re poor - then move out and into America’s middle and upper classes. Proof that all the ‘favors’ democrats have given the black community aren’t working for the people who live there. Similar to what white liberal ‘elite’ ideas have done to California. Smart people - the middle class - are leaving California. It’s becoming the land of ‘the poor’ and of white liberal ‘elites’.
So dems give blacks another ‘holiday’ steeped in grievance and anger and maybe a new ‘MLK street and community center’... pander. The old ‘tried and true’ of buying off their voters.
In ten years the ‘newest citizens’ will be moving out of the black community and into the American dream - leaving demcorat blacks behind... and still many vote for democrats... it’s weird.
