Virginia Commonwealth University has become the latest epicenter of violent protests, as pro-Hamas supporters occupied parts of the campus, leading to a tense standoff with riot police. Authorities issued a shelter-in-place order for all students.
The confrontation began Monday morning when a group of student protesters established what they called a “Liberation Zone” outside the James Branch Cabell Library on VCU’s Monroe Park campus. The group displayed Palestinian flags and chanted “Free Palestine,” demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and calling for VCU to sever all financial ties with Israel.
As the day progressed, tents were erected, and protesters fortified their position by forming a barrier around the zone.
As the day progressed, the situation intensified with pro-Hamas supporters occupying the library and courtyard. Police responded by deploying tear gas and pepper spray after protesters hurled objects at officers.
Social media posts showed tense standoffs between law enforcement and demonstrators, with the latter demanding that VCU disclose and divest any financial ties to Israel and protect pro-Palestinian speech on campus.

No way Joey is going to show up in Chicago.
It will get worse before it gets better. I foresee violent terrorist attacks coming. Jews will be sadly targeted by nut case people thinking they will make a difference by taking innocent lives. Air raid sirens will sound in many cities in the USA and Canada. Keep your head down when the shooting starts.
Sounds like a good plan.
“...Beat a bossa nova on their heads with a baton...”
And, apparently, abundant alliteration. :)
>>Demand...to protect pro-Palestinian speech on campus.<<
It was just a few months ago that VCU students were actively shutting down conservative guest speaker forums on campus. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of these same “students” were participants back then. It’s obvious that some people’s freedoms are more sacred than others.
Thanks for posting.
Virginia Tech did it right. They shut down the “occupation” before it got rooted. It was too close to the library and exams are coming up. Tech used the “street preacher” clause which prohibits groups/orgs for gathering without a permit.
Mine is an OR nurse in the hospital. Maybe she'll be working on a few cracked heads.
As Lurker says it’s going to get a lot worse; Tell your daughter to start carrying self protection, have a plan to evacuate at a moments notice with multiple evacuation routes planned. Make sure she keeps her phone, purse and keys readily available.
Maybe even having a good excuse for a day off ready to use.
A little preparation could save some/a lot of grief.
In its ranking of the Best Global Universities, U.S. News and World Report lists Virginia Commonwealth University among the top 20% in the world, tied at No. 439 out of 2,165 public and private institutions in the U.S. and more than 90 other countries. Better yet, just close it down.
I recall Iranian students at GW University in the mid ‘70s protesting the moral decay of U.S. culture. “What did we know of the quickie before we came here?”was on one of their banners.
Moral decay? Ha! We showed them!
You’re welcome!
I didn’t litter anywhere.

Dress like a protester. They will generally leave you alone. If they stop you as you are leaving, tell them you have been sent out to get Weed and food.
A rifle team could clear the Columbia campus in 30 minutes.
Columbia has 36000 registered students. 14000 of them are there on student visas, most of them from Muslim nations that hate the USA.
Send them back home. D or A. Dont matter much to me.
