I’ll have a dog one day. After one day I will give it back to the owner.

"I’ll take a dog anytime over people."

My canine companion has more humanity than most two legged humans.

Thank you - my feelings exactly! We do have a dog. He is just like family, but he is my husband’s dog - not mine. I do spoil him a bit but he is not my responsibility. We can’t go anywhere for very long without having to be home to let him out to go potty, so we have to leave our grandkids when we are visiting. Will I be upset when he is gone? Sure. But I will be more sad for my husband. He is retired and the dog is his constant companion.

My husband & I have 2 cats & a dog. All foundlings/rescues. I truly would not think much of a man who didn’t love dogs. Animals being joy & life.

When I was 10 I leaned down to kiss the neighbors doxxen. He tore my left cheek wide open. Rushed to the hospital & received over 40 stitches. Life happens. I have no fear of dogs.

Some people just need bitin’.

I understand that not everyone “gets” dogs, and that the streets need to be safe for these people to walk around. My brother was a dog magnet as a child. He’d give them the side-eye from 50 feet away, and they immediately had his number.

I used to have a cat that understood my pitbull completely. They would both be sitting in the backyard, and the cat would decide to go in the house. But, he’d have a little fun with it. First, he’d make eye contact with the dog ...then he’d bolt for the side of the house with an open window. He ran toward the dog in doing this. The dog would miss him by inches.

If I had video of your encounter with the dog, I could probably spot where you triggered a bite response. But, as I said, the streets need to be safe for people to walk around. That doesn’t stop jaywalkers from being hit by cars, though.

No objection to dogs, but do object to those a—holes that don’t clean up after their dogs.

It's not the dog's fault.

As a full time RV'er without pets, the biggest "dog" issue we experience is people who think their special pet can pee or crap anywhere, lick or jump on you, or run right up to you barking, and when you raise an issue, somehow it's our lack of understanding that's the "problem?

There’s laws against unsecured dogs in every town I know of. Were the cops called? A police report filed? If not, take it as a learning experience, eat your expenses and sue your neighbor. I deliver mail and I’ve been bitten once by a “ new” dog I didn’t know, who wasn’t even in his yard. Filed a police report and everything was paid for by the owner. But it’s no reason to hate all dogs.
They’re like a lot of people here on Freerepublic.

Dog ownership is an extension of Man’s desire to control other living things. It is why slavery exists. Owning a dog satisfies this desire, it’s almost euphoric for the slave master to have a living being completely subservient to him, and follow his every command. Even the slave here will protect the master with violence.

The slave Master will also chase down any ‘runaway’ dog, just as they would their human slaves, if it were 1850. Just as with human slaves, the dog ‘Master’ has various keeps for his slave, where it can be a muddy pit in the fenced in back yard, or the typical ‘House Dog (slave)’ living indoors similar to a servant.

Irish comedian proves Americans may love dogs too much

warning: strong language (as if saying he is an Irish comedian was not enough of a warning)

Understood. Not saying you were in the wrong. Canines are predators, by nature. If you don’t understand them, you’ll likely have a problem.

I’d wager that most problem dogs are unsocialized. They are removed from their litters before the needed 7 weeks of socialization, and will never be “right” in the head. If they’re smallish, and are neutered or spayed, they’re mostly harmless, animated stuffed toys, even if their owners are unfit idiots. I also understand that it isn’t incumbent upon everyone to be knowledgeable as to the ways of dogs. Seems like it would be prudent, though, if you’re going to be anywhere near them.

The most cringeworthy thing I see is people with boxes of 5 week old pitbull mixes selling them on the street. Idiots buy them, and trouble awaits.

“So file a $50,000 lawsuit against the dog owner. That’s what I would do. People who don’t secure their dogs deserve it. I’m a dog owner by the way.”

Agreed. I almost got into a brawl with this dumb@ss woman that walks around the neighborhood with her unleashed dog. One day her dog chased my cat on MY property right into my front courtyard (dog was stopped by the gate). I went out into the street and confronted the woman about her dog, informing her that there’s a leash law, and she lied and claimed it was a “service dog” and didn’t have to be leashed. I told her keep your damn dog out of my yard (or else). If I ever see that “b” again with her unleashed dog... I will deal with her more harshly than just verbally. I love dogs (and have one that stays in my back yard) but I detest irresponsible dog owners.

I like dogs. I just don’t like walking them and picking up the poop.

What did you do to piss off the dog?

I Obviously wasn’t there, but I’m guessing he passed through the dog’s field of view. With some dogs that’s all it takes. That’s why i carry a baton when I go for a walk in the neighborhood.

I hate my brother.
I asked him to watch my dog and he sold it to the neighbors.
I went over to get my dog back from them.
They started crying when I told them I wanted my dog back.
It seems their young daughter got into deep at the lake and the dog saved her life

You might want to check and see if you have to wait for the dog to actually bite you before you can shoot it.

And practice not shooting yourself in the foot...

(no that exactly is what my old neighbor a life long farmer used to do, a very good and deeply religious man. He would get his new litter , wait until they were old enough to see which ones he wanted to keep or sale then trot to the creek with the others in a great big burlap bag—true story).

So this “very good and deeply religious man” made those innocent puppies suffer a very cruel death by drowning.
