We still see news coverage coming out of Europe issuing “warnings” about a possible energy crisis, spurred in part by the removal of Russian oil and natural gas from the European market. Concerns are being raised in the United States that the same thing “might” happen here. But this story is much bigger than just the Biden energy crisis. And these aren’t hypothetical discussions about power grid issues that are complex and difficult to explain. The reality is that it’s already upon us. It’s happening right now. In several European countries, the lights are already being dimmed if not extinguished in places. People are being asked to take cold showers or, in some places, not having any choice because there is no hot water. And it’s all being done in an effort to squirrel away any amount of energy they can before winter arrives. The President of the European Commission warned people this week that the time to start conserving and building stockpiles of oil and natural gas was yesterday. And it’s not just going to be Germany and Italy that are suffering. It will be the entire continent. (Associated Press)
The stakes are high. If Russia severs the supplies of gas it has already drastically reduced, authorities fear Europe risks becoming a colder, darker and less-productive place this winter. It’s imperative to economize gas now so it can be squirreled away for burning later in homes, factories and power plants, officials say.
“Europe needs to be ready,” said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. “To make it through the winter, assuming that there is a full disruption of Russian gas, we need to save gas to fill our gas storages faster. And to do so, we have to reduce our gas consumption...

She should've thought of that years ago. This problem is the direct result of wanting to be a part of the green in-crowd instead of responsibly planning for future energy needs.
Saturday night’s gonna be bad.......................
My question is this. Will the leaders and the wealthy be taking cold showers too?
I bet I could guess the answer correctly to that.
Nope, the fake vaxes are destroying their reproductive ability.
If Taiwan's chips are blockaded, our economy will be just as screwed as Europe is over natural gas.
What are they going to do when they run out of food?
Wisconsin winters can be brutal. It’s not unusual to have a ‘Three Dog Night’ which means you add that third dog to the bed with you for body heat.
I wonder if Europe will be seeing an uptick in pet adoptions?
I mean, you an always use them for food later, Right? ;)
This is one of the main reasons I have solar on my house. The Dims are doing their best to make electricity as scarce and expensive as they are with oil and natural gas. They’ll do it all the more if they’re successful at forcing or convincing most drivers to switch over to EV’s.
Fortunately the wealthy are not affected by these restrictions.
“spurred in part by the removal of Russian oil and natural gas from the European market.”

Talking Points on how Europe’s fracking bans have contributed to its natural gas crisis

Foolish fracking ban 1: France

Foolish fracking ban 7: Spain
Earlier this year, gas-dependent Spain joined other European nations in foolishly banning fracking for natural gas, as well.

All the European nations that banned fracking are still 100% dependent on natural gas to survive. In fact they are even more dependent than they used to be because their use of intermittent solar and wind requires the unique flexible backup that natural gas can provide.
Like President Biden in the US with his fracking ban on Federal lands, European leaders thought that if they banned their ability to frack natural gas they would somehow stop needing to use natural gas. But the need has not gone away—and now they are even more at Russia’s mercy.
While the alleged justification of fracking bans was the desire to reduce CO2 emissions, this never made any sense because a) natural gas use is the fastest near-term way of reducing emissions and b) European nations also oppose non-carbon nuclear.

What should European nations do about their self-inflicted suffering? One, they should immediately reverse their deadly fracking bans. Two, those who have championed fracking bans should apologize and promise to radically cut their own natural gas use.
Instead of meaningless gestures like “Earth Hour,” the European anti-fracking movement, along with the American anti-fracking movement, should celebrate “Earth Winter”—keep their thermostat to 60°F or less so that the deserving can have affordable gas.

Horror of horrors! I cannot imagine doing something like that. Claustrophobia cubed.
So Yurps....are you happy with your sacrifice to Gaia? Are you ready to sacrifice more to her? She demands it.
Save da Erf!
I wonder if they will see an uptick in tick-bourne disease?
Is that really the origin of "Three Dog Night"? I never knew that.
My experience is that Euro-Trash don’t take enough showers as it is. They gonna be stinkin’ mo’ bad.
You’ll know the Europeans have grown up and gotten serious when they:
- lift all bans on drilling or fracking
- lift all bans on coal mining and reopen the coal mines
- build coal fired power plants
- build nuclear power plants
- build LNG terminals
- build more storage capacity for LNG
- sign long term supply contracts with various suppliers from different countries
- drop all restrictions, fines or fees on carbon emissions
When they do the above, they can have modern economies again. Until then they’ll have to get used to taking cold showers in the dark and shivering their way through winter.
You can have your AC, or your EV, but not both. Choose wisely comrades.
The chains of tyranny are light in the beginning, almost imperceptible. So, I figure they will start with a method to manipulate us through controlling electrical use. So much KWh per square feet per month, unless you have a ‘special circumstance’... like knowing the right people and a doctor who recommends that you get PT in your electrically heated, olympic size pool. I think you can see the potential here.
At base, they just need to convince us that our desire for freedom and independence is selfish.
Shame on you!
Coconut cream pies, I guess... Har!

Guess who won’t be miserable.
Cold showers are the least of their worries. Austria had already switched to LED bulbs for their streetlights but are talking turning off streetlights at night. Hmm, whatever could go wrong?
