I wonder how many transgender Neanderthals there were.

A forensic investigator can determine male or female and race from a single tooth.
But to keep his job he has to say: “There are absolutely no differences between the sexes or races!”

They’ve declared war on biological reality. But follow the science!

Without identifying the objective sex of a find, it is impossible to have any guesses about how the individual might have identified themselves. For example if you find a female skeleton buried with spears, other weapons, and what might be forms of body armor, you might guess that she identified herself as a warrior or hunter. If you find a male skeleton buried with herbs and fine cutting tools, you might guess that he identified himself as a healer, which in some cultures might be a feminine orientation.

AFAI've ever noticed, old/ancient burials, when excavated, have all been identified as warriors if weapons are in there, or just an ordinary burial (far more common). Of course, Egyptian burials are often ID-able by name.

Depends on what other artifacts are in the grave as well. There have been numerous female warriors who were also rulers and who had children, so I’m not about to listen to anyone who wants to put down hard and fast rules about who was found with what.
“There was a young man from Khartoum
“Who took a lesbian up to his room.
“They argued all night
“Over who had the right
“To do what, and with which, and to whom.”
Jus’ sayin’
