Amid a staggering daily increase in newly confirmed coronavirus cases, Gov. Mike DeWine once again pleaded with the public to continue wearing a mask and practicing social distancing, fearing that further increases would result in schools and businesses being forced to shut down.
DeWine, speaking during a news conference in Cleveland, did not say any such measure was imminent, but said he was caught off guard by the increase in coronavirus cases over the past three weeks. But a continuing surge in the virus had the possibility to upend the progress the state has made on the economy and reopening schools, he said.
Public health officials have always predicted an increase in cases as the weather turned colder, a time when people move activities inside.
Even knowing that, I was surprised at the rate of increase, DeWine said. And one of the things that should cause us some concern is, unlike the summer when we saw these cases mostly be among young people, were seeing the age go up. The other difference between now and summer is were seeing the hospitalization go up at a faster rate than it did during the summer. We can only assume, or Im assuming, that is because were now talking about an older group....

I don’t think DeWine has any chance of re-election.
Ohio has in person early voting going on now. Dewine will not mess with Election Day. He has no reason to. He wont be up for Re-election till 2022 himself, and is a lukewarm but not anti Trump republican. Of all the people to get paranoid about, Dewine is not a serious choice.
There are rumblings of a 20 percent property value hike in Ohio. The source started in Butler county. 14% wasn’t acceptable to the department of taxation. They seem to be going to make up for the lockdown with a major property tax increase.
Absolutely right, he voted for the house version of Mumbai Mike Lee’s s386. Along with my house rep Brad “wave the flag in your face” Wenstrup. POS.
-1% of the 5,083 COVID19 fatalities but 11% of hospitalization and 36% of the cases and were from people under 40.
-78% of fatalities but 40% of hospitalizations and 13% of cases were from people 70+ years old.
Likely that is true. Grow a backbone you insipid repub weaklings. How pathetic.
Cleveland is a sanctuary city. How is that even possible. RINOs, that’s how.
Then give them hydroxychloquine and zinc and STFU! Why are these idiots thinking only ventalators are the only fix to COVID??
We now need to shut all sh*t down and scare the people with “cases”. These politicians are asinine.
“Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine warns coronavirus surge could cause crippling effects to state if not controlled”
the virus does NOT cause “crippling” effects, the governors do ...
Agreed, CheshireTheCat.
DeWhine is a RINO of the highest order...always has been.
His interest is to preserve the ‘control’ mechanisms they have enabled in this scamdemic. Sadly, though, people won’t understand until the next seasonal flu brings out the same control components as we’ve seen this year.
This has all been a test of the American People. And, we failed the test...
The other name for "coronavirus surge " is "Mike DeWine".
As far as the 78% of fatalities but only 40% of hospitalizations for those over age 70, how many died in a nursing home or hospice instead of a hospital? What matters is total deaths and total hospitalizations and comparison back several years. For example, what is the Flu death/flu related death rate this season?
I don’t think you need to have prior years’ data, though it’d be good. The question is simple - “Governor, you say you are worried about the case surges. But the surge is with youths who do not burden our healthcare system less and die less often than our elderly. Why are you proposing a focus away from our elderly, a focus akin to that of Gov Cuomo that lead to NY being a punchline AND the leader in elderly fatalities?”
I have never thought DeWine to be very sharp and am amazed that he made it this far in politics. In all his elections for various political offices I only thought of voting for him because at least he was not a communist. But now with COVID he acts like a dictator with short man syndrome. He also hides his gun control tendencies. He is killing the Ohio economy and not helping Trump during a critical election.

It seems every Ohio Governor and every US Senator we have had for the past 40+ years has been a deep state Plant. DeWine may come off as a little less competent, but he definitely is dancing to the Deep State music.
OHIO PING!
Please let me know if you want on or off the Ohio Ping list.

That will go over like a lead balloon in Cuyahoga County where we JUST had property tax revaluations that caused many to gag on the hikes. Mine was close to an 18% increase, other valuations saw up to 40%.
Well I am here in Ohio,
Vitamin, Quercetin, Zinc, Saline Nasal Spray, and hydrogen peroxide mouth wash. Plus spray my mask with a mist of lysol. Phhhht.
