Scientists have made a discovery that could lead to a revolutionary drug that actually reverses ageing.
The drug could help damaged DNA to miraculously repair and even protect Nasa astronauts on Mars by protecting them from solar radiation.
A team of researchers developed the drug after discovering a key signalling process in DNA repair and cell ageing.
During trials on mice, the team found that the drug directly repaired DNA damage caused by radiation exposure or old age.
'The cells of the old mice were indistinguishable from the young mice after just one week of treatment,' said lead author Professor David Sinclair.
Human trials of the pill will begin within six months....

um....I have this picture in my attic and....
Hello, my dawg brother...
Woof, back at ya.
It might pressure us to get off our planet. One of the big hindrances to any sort of space exploration and colonization is that right now it seems to require planning on large time scales through many, many generations. But if life spans can be increased to 10,000 years or something it starts to become much more viable. If science doesn’t keep up, it might become necessary as the population rises and uses more resources as folks stop dying.
Say a massive generational ark would take 100 years to get ready, no one there at the beginning would ever even get to leave, much less arrive any where. But maybe it gets done if the folks working on it have a good chance of going and not dying in transit.
Freegards
Yes, I choose eternal life.
But I have been chosen for eternal life.
LMAO
A big Amen over here, FRiend.
Same here (motorcycle accident at 22 yrs old)
I should be dead or in a wheelchair.
I thank and praise the Almighty everyday.
Nailed it!
Something like this could only be available to the very rich and/or very well connected otherwise our already over populated earth by twice would spiral quickly into collapse or mutually assured destructive war or both. The few who might survive would be living in hell on earth.
This is not something we ever want to see developed. There’s a natural order to things. Changing that natural order would have catastrophic consequences we can’t even imagine right now.
Like you said adorno; seeing people so evil it makes our gut’s turn, like pelosi, waters, reid, obama, schumer, frankenstupid, and the like, would be hell on earth for us right now. It would not be long before mobs everywhere would be plotting to murder whomever had taken this “magic” drug if for no other reason than pure envy. Why should someone born lucky into money, well connected politically, or otherwise “special” get to live several lifetimes while the rest of us only got one?
I have to admit the idea of it is tempting but the way the world is going right now; it would break my heart to see it end up where I think it will in 100 years. That is not a world I would want to live in anyway. Besides, unless it can cure spinal problems and illnesses, what would be the point?
Now if we sent highly trained and educated teams to colonize planets; something like this would be the answer to how we would live long enough to both fly there and colonize these planets. Especially if it could keep these chosen people illness-free as well.
Sounds like a lot of science fiction right now though... I’d settle for a magic drug that could cure cancer and any number of illnesses and fix spinal chord and other nerve problems to restore people to good health equal to what their age would be otherwise.
Dare to dream I guess. Dreaming never hurt anyone (to my knowledge).
Wow man.
That’s great. Any persistent symptoms.
Mine are tough but livable.
Three back surgeries later and getting more crippled up by the day has me thinking the last thing I want to do is prolong this life past its regularly scheduled departure date.
With my luck, I’d get run over by a car. Statistics say accidents happen.
I’ll live forever with my Savior if glory. Why would anyone want to live forever on this world?
I’ll live forever with my Savior in glory. Why would anyone want to live forever on this world?
Amen!
Same here.
But I know when it’s going to rain. My left knee is 100% accurate.
I heard that.
The only thing these life-extending drugs will do is ensure that you die of something way more horrible than old age (cancer, accident, etc.).
That sucks.
But we are still standing :)
Yep.
