Never-Trumper Bill Kristol Is Eyeing This Conservative Lawyer For a Third-Party Run May. 31, 2016 5:35pm Tré Goins-Phillips
Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol, a prominent leader seeking to block Donald Trump from becoming president, is working to recruit conservative attorney David French, according to two Republicans familiar with the Never-Trumpers efforts.
French, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, is a constitutional lawyer, the author of several books and the recipient of the Bronze Star, according to his biography at National Review, where he serves as a staff writer. French lives in Columbia, Tenn., with his wife, Nancy, and three children.

facial hair doesn’t substitute....
What a ridiculous idea to put this guy out there...no chance of anything except electing Hillary.
That's probably exactly what Kristol did, but from the National Review employee roster.
You needed to ad another word: “unpatriotic.”
Leader of what? That is their problem. They self-proclaim to be "conservative thought leaders", but when they turned around, there was no one following.
French may have sme name recognition among conservative activists on college campuses, as he once headed the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, which fights for free speech and against speech codes at colleges and universities. But if he wants to avoid embarrassment and ridicule, he should politely tell Dr. Kristol, non merci.
Kristol has literally gone off the deep end.
Trying to lessen Trump’s margin to give Hillary the Presidency. Wonder what his price was.
If French is really Kristal’s candidate then both Kristal and French have totally lost it, and the GOPe has given up.
But if the GOPe has really given up, then the continued opposition of people like Ryan makes no sense.
This is so obvious to everyone that I strongly suspect something else is going on instead. French is merely a “placeholder” pending the start of something bigger.
There is something real going on behind the scenes. Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney, the Bush clan, etc. remain hysterically opposed. They represent the top tier of the GOPe and they will do whatever it takes to hold on to power.
Whatever is really in the works, French is not it.
For instance, John McCain is in a tough primary battle and has weakly endorsed Trump out of necessity. In spite of his age it’s easy to see him deciding to go out in a blaze of glory running for President instead.
French? Loved his work on Family Affair.
NO lawyer for POTUS
this guy has no chance to even make a dent in the vote. Why bother?
“Conservative is a stretch. He was standing up for Saint Skittles (Trayvon Martin) back when that was going on. Hes pro-NAFTA, probably supports TPP, and is more than likely pro-amnesty as well.”
Exactly, which is why the traitors of the GOP like Kristol like him. Another Lawyer!!! YUK
In order to access the ballot nationwide, it is estimated that an independent presidential candidate in 2016 would need to collect more than 880,000 signatures.

A couple of presidential election cycles previous, the Constitution Party ran an editor/newsie from some publication and hardly anyone even noticed.
French may get some buzz from inside the Beltway, but he likely won’t get much notice in fly-over country.
Bill Kristol hasn’t been relevant since the 2008 election cycle. Ditto for his publication. 99% of Republicans have no clue who David French is.
-—Conservative is a stretch.

I don’t think that word means what you think it does anymore. It’s been hijacked to mean “globalist”.
The Libertarians are likely to draw equally from Hillary and Trump. Might fetch a meaningful percentage of the vote without effecting the outcome. A conservative, on the other hand, would draw exclusively from Trump. Kristol is looking to elect fellow neo-con Hillary. Let’s keep America the world’s policeman.
In any case, this is all a diversion: No name. No money. No ballot status.

Yep. Careerist GOPers have picked up the Dem habit of abusing language.
