I won't take a lot of time on this. Trump's liberalism is well documented: gun control, abortion, Sodomite rights, illegal immigration, giving to the Clinton Foundation, taxes, single-payer, not a sincere Christian, and whatever else you got.
He's a liberal. I will not vote for a liberal. People on FR are being duped by the media into nominating someone who turns off a huge chunk of the base. Even if Trump can pull in enough Low Information Votes to become president, the conservatives still lose.
Get over yourself.
YOU COULDN'T BE MORE WRONG!
BY A *YUGE* MAJORITY, SENATOR CRUZ is THE FIRST CHOICE HERE.
Neither. The more we do that the less representation we have. Now we have no representation in DC. We don’t like it do we? Here we are again.
Okay, let's come back to planet Earth.
With Trump, we have the best chance since Reagan to seriously upset the status quo in Washington. Of course Trump is not ideologically perfect from a conservative point of view. But both establishment conservatives and all liberals are literally quaking in fear that this man actually gets into office.
You think Trump's priority as president will be with homosexuals, gun control, abortion, ect? If so, you do not know the man very well and evidently have never read any of his books - which scarcely mention social issues at all.
What Trump will focus on is reinvigorating the economy of the United States and re-establishing the United States as the unparalleled leader of the free world. In terms of economy, military power and just plain swagger.
I could not possibly care less about whether two homosexuals can live together and consider themselves married because they got a piece of paper saying so. What I do care about is whether or not I'll be able to hang on to my home and my job. I also care about ensuring that my 401(k) and other investments are not further eroded by taxes and/or subject to government confiscation.
I think Trump feels the same way. Let the states worry about the other stuff. In Washington, we need to make some serious changes. Everybody else, including the conservative darlings sitting at 4% in the polls, who say all the right things about every little social issue, simply do not have the power or wherewithal to get it done.
Reagan was also a democrat at one point. OTOH, I do see where you are coming from. As a Cruz supporter, I’m looking at Trump and loving what he is doing to the establishment. It must be done, and I thank him for doing it. It’s about time someone with the means and the ability does it. The truth is, if Cruz weren’t in the running, my vote would go 3rd party anyhow. I will vote Cruz in the primaries. If Cruz doesn’t get the nod, and Trump does, I will vote for Trump. If any of the other whackjobs gets the nod, I will write Cruz in for the generals. I WILL NOT vote for Jeb, Rubio or any of the other RINO GOPe candidates, period.
HAHA, especially while Hillary is distracted from him.
If Hillary was to win Bill would be in charge of the WH interns.
My perception is that there are a lot of people who think along those lines right now.
It could easily change, but that’s pretty much my thought too.
After all these years, I am leery of every one of them to be honest.
Not to worry - Obozo will be our next Prezzy - this stuff is all for show now.
“I won’t take a lot of time on this. “
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
And neither will I.
Trump may not be a conservative but he most certainly is NOT being foisted on us by the media.
I agree with that, but there are a lot of people on FR who plan to actually vote for him.
And, pray tell us, how any candidate is going to change these things? The states are taking steps with the abortion issue - as they should. No president can change these things - unless by fiat - but then there are those pesky Supreme Court rulings.
Trump is a Liberal, in the old sense of the word. Trump is a Liberal CAPITALIST. That is why he is winning such broad support.
Conservatives are feeling shut out by the Republican insiders, not just on social issues, but on the economic issues as well.
So, we will take what we can get. If the insiders won’t let us have a true Conservative, we will at least have a Capitalist.
Jeb Bush is not a capitalist and some of the other candidates have shown a readiness to compromise with the Insiders that makes Conservatives uneasy.
If we can’t have Cruz, we will take Trump.
Great thesis, there.
This column has to mean Soros styled liberals would LOVE Trump! Hell’s bells, one of them could have written this piece.
Maybe one did.
Especially the part about calling 36% of Republicans “low information” types. Love that one!
This means the Obama/Jarrett crowd will be supporting Donald Trump soon, right?
Oh, silly me, I forgot, all the right people fear him.

Thanks.
Certainly they can vote for whomever they choose in the Republican Party.
My best guess right now is that Trump will take the remainder of the GOP vote to a 3rd party and bundle it with a similar portion of the Democrat party, winning at least 40 states.
And, hopefully killing the GOP as a result.
In the aftermath Social Conservatives can form up and build an effective party with SOME Democrats and start the process of wooing a broad spectrum of voters.
But the days of the GOP as a house for the Social Conservative vote will soon end.
Hell, if Social Conservatives were paying any attention they would realize that the GOP is no place for them anyway...unless they have Battered Wife Syndrome.
I vote for worst blog post ever.
Apples and oranges.
Is it possible that the low information voters are the ones who can’t be bothered to find out what Trump has really said over the past 15 years and just spout media headlines?
Trump is not a classical liberal. Trump is not a libertarian. Trump is a big government liberal who just recently put on a populist costume.
