Patrick J. Buchanan has raised the question asked here fifteen months ago: Is there a peaceful civil secession of Red States underway? Originally raised here in July 2012, we asked if there wasnt a real possibility of what we described as a constructive secession which would accomplish what The Confederacy could not achieve.
As we described the situation those states that have grown tired of the overbearing Barack Obama Administration and see it as no longer intolerable could engage in conduct that would amount to de facto if not a de jure secession from the United States.
Red Staters have long recognized that if we cant find a way to stop Obamas shredding of our Constitution by his arrogant abuse of Executive Orders we are certainly headed for a...

Without the “boat”, most of them are [pardon the pun] sunk.
They can’t fathom having to do something other than have the government FORCE other people to cooperate with them,
though cooperate we will, and will have to, following the inevitable economic collapse. But, we’ll do it voluntarily and out of benign self interest.
Ah, but culture does change.
Witness the tectonic shifts in our culture over just the last half century. We lost a winnable war in South East Asia at the end of the sixties because the pressure of cultural changes in attitude toward war forced us to abandon that cause.
Institutionalized racial discrimination (at least against minorities) is now a thing of the past because of attitude shifts in the culture.
A rebirth of national pride and patriotism has burst upon the scene after decades of decline. That rebirth was of course preceded by events that snapped most of the culture out of its collective apathy, but the fact is, it's here and it's growing. The very fact that we're even having this conversation, or the fact that this website even exists, are testaments to that monumental shift in the culture.
My point is, what was a predictable response to events in one age, is not so predictable in another. The western powers once went to war because of the assassination of a head of state. That war killed millions of people. That wouldn't happen today. Neither will a military response to an issue of secession.
I'm not a pessimist concerning this issue as you evidently are. And this is no time to be a pessimist.
Receiving your signal loud and clear! It is good to hear from some of the alternate universes now and again. Here in this universe national pride and patriotism are considered outmoded, bigoted and are primarily found among the aged. The young are marching forward into a brave new culture of apathy, degradation and dependence. Dissenters are shouted down and targeted for harassment and worse by government entities. It would be a great build-up for an action movie, you know, the kind that end with the bad guys blowing up or with the good guys dying valiantly and defiantly? It would be exciting if it weren't real.
Signing off now!
Yep, the future of revolution/civil war in the US can be found in the history books detailing the break up of Yugoslavia. The political dynamics will be different; the violence on a block to block level will be the same, though.
Unfortunately, for the most part, they are also part of the problem.
It’s time to set up an alternative government as it were, where the legislators/delegates don’t have all the perks of office so that they won’t want to just stay there and consider their self-importance.
Even red states like OK, TX, ND and SD have legislators who are a huge part of the problem......
Did any of you actually READ the short article? He's not talking about a secession as in the Civil War. It's about taking back the tenth amendment. State's rights superseding federal rights as the constitution says.
There’s no ‘perhaps.’ There are no red states and blue states. It will be block to block, door to door. No sane person looks forward to that.
Not to mention that evil around the world would take advantage of the opening.
I don’t understand the conservatives who look forward to such a thing. Indeed, they are a small and ineffective minority, but the immaturity needed to look forward to such a conflagration betrays an ignorance of history and an alienation from sanity.
1. Migration.
2. Separation.
3. Armed conflict.
#1 is impossible. It isn't 1690, there is no New World to escape to. The other side would be perfectly happy back in Europe but they will not leave. We cannot vote with our feet within the borders of the USA because the states retain little power to protect us from the federal govrnment. #2 is being seriously discussed. It failed before, it may fail again. I acknowledge that there is probably no way to accomplish it peacefully. But the only other alternative is #3. It will take the form of a civil war if it meets resistance or, if no resistance is encountered, it will be a bloody purge. No matter how you slice it, our old way of life is kaput. The time to save it was twenty or thirty years ago, back when conservatives and men of good will were fat, happy and content to "let things sort themselves out."
Your mistake is that you think we can avoid it.
The Revolution is coming for us whether we would have it or not. The wheels are already in motion. We will be tested in conflict and stand or fall or we will kiss Ceasar's ring and be slaves. Those are the choices before us.
Is that their new coping mechanism? If it goes meme, we need to counter it with our own: WALK THE PLANK.
It's really that simple...people in the south (and west exclusive of the coast) just want to be free of the control freaks. Leave us alone.
I don't have the least doubt that there would be lots of support. Certain groups, and there are many, would be pleased as punch to see Obeyme wipe out city blocks full of "domestic terrorists" like us.
I guess “can’t we all just get along?” is getting a little long in the tooth.
I never said I thought it could be avoided, in fact had you asked, I'd of replied I think it nigh on inevitable at this point. I have said it before, and I'll say it again, though.
Nothing will come of all this bluster of revolution/civil war until the soccer moms and NASCAR dad across the country are looking into the faces of their starving kids and wondering how they are going to feed them.
The above is true, whether we like it or not. Our fore fathers revolted against the largest empire on earth, for much less than what even the staunchest modern day patriot endures on a daily basis. If it weren't true, you, I, or someone else would have taken bricks and chucked them through the windows of the closest government offices, or political party headquarters long ago.
Finding a padlock on his church and his pastor in jail?
His 401K confiscated in return for a worthless IOU?
His child being forced to perform a homosexual act as part of a public school "diversity" exercise?
Having to pay for his milk and bread with a wheelbarrow of worthless inflated dollars?
Losing his job because he is unwilling to take a loyalty oath to the Party?
Or will he snooze on to electronic dreams and modern conveniences until the death squad kicks down his door and hauls him off into the night and fog?
Well yeah, there's always been that segment of the hard left who would gladly see the throat of every patriot cut, but they're a small number of the rank and file left.
A dictatorial President would need near universal approval from the people in the union states to launch military actions against any state that merely changed its political alignment. That kind of broad support just doesn't exist today.
More likely, you'd see an endless amount of gloating and glee in the blue states over the secession of any red state.
