Can we please keep comments about the Mormon faith off the political discussion threads?
one man's opinion...

As we enter the GOP primary season, I'm starting to notice more and more an annoying trend here in FR. It seems as though everytime there's an article, or someone posts a comment about Romney, either pro or con, it nearly always devolves into an extended, and acrimonious discussion about the Mormon faith. Those who defend it, and those who, for whatever reasons, can't abide it, both sides seem determined to wage an "end of times" batte on all the FR threads. Frankly, I'm tired of it, and just wish it would stop. I think that probably 99% of others here feel the same way.

Christians speaking out here has resulted in Mormons becoming Christians in some cases, isn’t that worth doing?

...just surf through this thread, and 90% of the commentary has been posted before, hundreds of times.Come back NEXT year and you'll find more of the same.
I think the BoM and it's 'volunteer' missionairies make WAY more 'visits' that this.
We are WAY behind in trying to level the playing field.
Do you REALLY want to limit our ability to do that?

Sorry you feel that way. I'm trying to keep you from shooting yourself in the foot by allowing the trashing of certain religious minorities who would otherwise be your political allies.
It's your call, of course, but eventually you will have to deal with financial reality. Because those groups you've chosen as designated targets will cease to contribute to your fundraising appeals.
I'd hate to see that happen. I'd like to see FR return to the days of the March for Justice, when it presented a united front to the Clinton propaganda machine.
I support the stated goals of FR. I agree with you that Romney is not a suitable candidate for the Presidency. I would like to see Constitutional restoration gain credence as a political philosophy.
But I see no reason why any of that should entail Mormon-bashing or Catholic-bashing as a necessary consequence. And I'm surprised that you permit and (apparently) endorse both.

... Romney, if he gets the nomination, will be far preferable to another 4 years of Obama. You can't POSSIBLY know this!
So Romney gets rid of Obamacare and implements Masscare+PLUS.
Will THAT be an 'improvement'?

Was that an attempt at satire? Sorry, I couldn't be sure.
First you castigate me for not having references for my assertions, then you make assertions and give no references... It was almost funny!

The Book of Enoch (Link to Wikipedia) "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not consider the book of Enoch to be part of its standard canon, though it is believed that the original book of Enoch was an inspired book. The Book of Moses, found within the scriptural canon of the LDS Church, has several similarities to the Book of Enoch, including names that have been found in some versions of the Book of Enoch, and is believed by the Church to contain a condensed record of Enoch." Big deal!
The COJSOLDS does not 'consider' JS' last, great 'translating effort' to be SCRIPTURE either.
After JS 'corrected' the KJV; why hasn't ANY of your Living Prophet®s got a message from GOD to toss out the (as long as it's translated correctly) KJV for the translated just fine JST?

Yes, God is righteous, and neither he nor his true servants will need to lie or stretch anything to make a point as you have done in your post.Sigh...
Calling someone a LIAR and then FAILING to point out the LIE?
Bad form, old chap.

Being a fairly good judge of the matter of Catholic bashing I've seen Catholics defend themselves and their religious preferences quite well on FR.
Conservative Catholics are not helpless waifs standing by the road.
Such debates (which you might view as having a lot of "bashing") turn out to be a very good way to gain an understanding of how the other guy sees things ~ I'm sure there are many lurkers who have gone away ILLUMINATED, literally floating in air in front of the Bodhi tree like modern day manifestations of Buddha ~ right down to the appropriate form of lotus position for both hands and legs.
Doesn't get better than that.

You seriously need to learn definitions, apostates are those who have knowledge and then leave, unbelievers are those who don't or never believed something. Ha!
This is RICH!!
Coming from a fellow who has CHOSEN a religion that has REDEFINED so many Christian words to mean something different.

So long as you're dependent on the contributions of your members to keep your site running, it's not entirely yours.
It's the members who not only provide the operating funds, but dig up the content and provide the commentary. You would be better off to realize that we are your customers and we can easily vote with our feet.
Thanks for your invitation to do just that. I'll happily take you up on it.

Is there anything unnatural about artificial insemination?
If so what laws of nature are broken by it?
If a young woman who had never had sex was inseminated artificially, would she still be a virgin?
Since she has not had sex, she would be a virgin, thus a virgin birth.
Mormons believe in the virgin birth, all those talks you excerpted from will mention that Mary was a virgin, E.G. no sex.
So God did it himself, and Mary had no sex with him or anyone else, but wound up carrying God's child, genetically, physically God's child, but still no sex.
Disappointed?
Too bad. It's what we believe. No sex for Mary before Jesus was born, not with God, not with Joseph.
