Can we please keep comments about the Mormon faith off the political discussion threads?
one man's opinion...

Posted on 05/24/2011 4:07:08 PM PDT by ken5050

As we enter the GOP primary season, I'm starting to notice more and more an annoying trend here in FR. It seems as though everytime there's an article, or someone posts a comment about Romney, either pro or con, it nearly always devolves into an extended, and acrimonious discussion about the Mormon faith. Those who defend it, and those who, for whatever reasons, can't abide it, both sides seem determined to wage an "end of times" batte on all the FR threads. Frankly, I'm tired of it, and just wish it would stop. I think that probably 99% of others here feel the same way.

. . AND personally destroying the challenger...and used every nasty attack that was available to do so.

Yep, that was one of DU's tactics. I remembered the episode where he made bold claims that I was a paid minister who's sole purpose was posting here LOL. when faced with the truth - he still denied it. Of course there were times where he'd make a false accusation of me on another subject and then challenge me to post the link to show otherwise. LOL, rip du - destroyer of religions - NOT.

THANK YOU, KEN! That is an excellent suggestion. Even tho, I do not believe in exclusion because it limits discussion and sometimes enlightenment, but also brings out cranks. I will make a note to self, never to enter such discussions again.

How strange? You must come out yammering like a crank as you have been on here for three freaking days of rudeness! I have encountered the many Mormons on my porch, whom I thanked for caring about me having a belief system. And took the boys on bikes water or their drink of choice. All I had to do was inform them I already had a belief system and I was very secure and comfortable in it. And I laid down an invitation to them to join me in it. They were pleasant, supportive, and very gracious and secure themselves. We had a delightful discussion about where they were from, and how far into their ministery they were. Rudeness begets rudeness just as you have been experiencing for three days.

Thanks..I’m almost sorry I started the thread, because it’s obviously gone way off the rails...which sort of makes my point. I expect it will continue one.. until Mitt drops out..probably at the 8,0000 post level or so...

Eight years ago, I was accused of being a "paid professional anti-Mormon"! I took it as a compliment that my verbal/written communication style was good enough to get paid for.

You too huh LOL. Indeed, I let du run with enough rope to hang himself - which he did. In fact he even invited me to join the dark side because of my writing too - but they didn't have cookies LOL.

The disconnect is hilarious....the mormons and their 52,000 missionaries are just fine, but if there actually WERE any paid "antis" on FR that would sure get their garmies in a wad.

That's what I was referring to...mormons think they are the only ones who should be offering religious information ANYWHERE....'cause they are so "speshul". They honestly DO believe they are the "chosen". I posted a thread earlier about this elitist belief: ..with the following paragraph in the article...

President John Taylor taught: “The Lord will be king over all the earth, and all mankind literally under his sovereignty, and every nation under the heavens will have to acknowledge his authority, and bow to his scepter. Those who serve him in righteousness will have communications with God, and with Jesus; will have the ministering of angels, and will know the past, the present, and the future; and other people, who may not yield full obedience to his laws, nor be fully instructed in his covenants, will, nevertheless, have to yield full obedience to his government. For it will be the reign of God upon the earth, and he will enforce his laws, and command that obedience from the nations of the world which is legitimately his right” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: John Taylor [2001], 225).

The "covenants" of course, refer to the mormon temple covenants and "he will enforce his laws" refer to mormon church government laws. Notice, in this excerpt the usual mormon habit of not capitalizing the "H" in referring to "He and His". (I haven't seen them fail to capitalize the "C" in church when referring to the mormon church, though.)

Now folks, be advised that both Romney and Huntsman come from these roots and have had these notions ingrained in them from birth.

That is the point of the matter that continually passes over the heads of the non-mormon mormon defenders here. There are ingrained and yes, historical, teachings and beliefs that exist in the mentality of mormons - ESPECIALLY temple mormons like romney/huntsman. They believe they are entitled to power by virtue of their priesthood.

When we opened a new pasture for our flock, it had a row of pine tree’s about 6-9 feet tall. I didn’t think they would touch the pine needles...it took a month for the trees to be stripped of needles and die....I always knew the goats eating the pine needles, they had black muzzles from the tree sap. But none of them would touch wild mustard plants. Would have bet they would leave pine tree’s alone...and would have lost the bet...:O) GG
