Vanity: Flying Flag Upside Down? Ribbons? Tea Bags?

I am so grieved by the travesty that occurred this evening in Washington. I am saddenned and extremely concerned for the future of our country and am looking for a way to express it.

Whatever happened to the activism of the 80s?! I remember seeing news coverage of groups of people picketing with "throw the bums out" signs, sending tea bags to Washington, the term limits and divided government concepts being debated on talking-heads shows.

Are any organizations leading the charge here? I know there are Freeps in Washington, but there has to be something we here in fly-over country can do--and I am sick of calling dem staffers who could care less about my views.

I came up with several ideas---flying flag upside down, sending tea bags to Washington, some sort of ribbon or bumper sticker campaign

--somehow conservatives need to start building momentum to mitigate this disaster. Any ideas/thots

That’s a wonderful way to spread the ‘word’ - I’m not much into symbolism of substance like the upside down flag stuff or black patch stuff but this sends a very clear message!

I would recommend that you attempt to educate folks as to the meaning FIRST before flying the flag in this manner.

Thats why the email campaign and facebook groups - FReeper groups - to add the education about protocol. The protocol is why this works. You CAN fly upside down to signal distress. We are signaling distress, a Nation in Crisis, economy in colapse.Think Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck would cover a story on it? Let someone try to stop me. Some guy had the cops try to arrest him over it - they couldn't - free speech!

Its easy to put stamps upside down. The Statue of Liberty covering face reminds me of drawings I saw about 9/11, plus it is too comical; this need to be shocking. It needs to make people think. Imagine thousands, no hundreds of thousands doing this. We want people to talk about this like they did the tea party!

Anything you mail to the Congress, kool-aid, glasses, tea bags, etc gets choked up in security. It will never get to its intended target. Its not the same as the broccoli dumped on Bush I's lawn.

Green and black ribbons are a little too close to the tricolor of Black Libration that Ayers, Rev.Wright, and the rest used to use for my tastes.

I would also warn about flying our flag upside down as a sign of protest since that is usually done by liberals and antiwar types again mixed messages vs dual messages.

The tea bag on the antenna is a nice gesture but hardly practical, a good rain could stain your car.

A tricorn hat or a cowboy hat with a rosette of red white and blue attached, sends a clearer message.

And is easy to do based upon Fourth of July Materials sold almost everywhere.

Again a simple message with historical overtones, "we have revolted before against tyranny".

I personally have a boonie hat I could turn into a tricorn simply by pinning up three sides, the right side with a rosette and the back and the left bare with safety pins hidden inside the top, or even hand sewed for effect.

Again a clear message sent.

Well, don’t wanna confuse with Ayers :( Yikes! Maybe image needs to be mailed versus an item that would be security issue..

I’m a grown man who has not cried in 7 years since my daughter got married and feel like it right now. Been drinking a little but this bill is 70 years of socialist dreams they wanted and is the beginning of the end as I see it, more to come. Oklahoma late here. Good night and God bless.

PUT ON THE GLASSES!!!

The definition of congress is “a meeting of elected or appointed representatives”. The key word in that definition is representatives, A.K.A., those who represent. Much to the dismay of Nancy Pelosi, Article VI of the constitution requires that “...The Senators and Representatives... both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution...”

In my opinion, there is no doubt that the oath mandated by Article VI of the Constitution has been violated by the majority of the 111th Congress. The stimulus package, also known as H.R.1, “The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009”, an 1100 page bill, was passed by the House of Representatives with fewer then twelve hours of public review, and with numerous public statements made by members of Congress that they were not given the necessary time to actually read the bill. That, my friends, is unconstitutional, and is therefore grounds for a redress of grievances as guaranteed by the First Amendment.

Obama’s “stimulus package” is nothing less than a modern day “Enabling Act” which has little to do with stimulating our economy, and everything to do with stimulating the birth of liberal socialist fascism in America. How could we have been so blind? How did we miss the signs? Didn’t we notice the unquestioning press, the college students donating their parents money via PayPal, the Orwellian “Obey Giant” imagery, the lapdog Congress, the awestruck American electorate, and all the creepy parallels to “Weimar” Germany in 1933? To quote Roddy Piper in “They Live”, why didn’t we “PUT ON THE GLASSES?”

Although everybody from Aristotle to Ziegfeld has been credited with the following quote, it was George Santayana who said “Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it”.He wrote those words thirty years prior to the rise of Nazi Germany! Yet we Americans, in our current state of “Obama hypnosis” are forgetting the past, and as a result, are very much condemned to repeat it!

So what do we do? Well for starters, WAKE UP! Read your history and learn from it. Be aware of what is happening around you, and refuse to accept it. Talk to your neighbors, and friends, and coworkers, and become aware. Write to your Congressmen. Write to your local papers. Blog. Post on Free Republic. MAKE NOISE!!! But most importantly, and again to quote Roddy Piper...”PUT ON THE GLASSES!!!”
