I am so grieved by the travesty that occurred this evening in Washington. I am saddenned and extremely concerned for the future of our country and am looking for a way to express it.
Whatever happened to the activism of the 80s?! I remember seeing news coverage of groups of people picketing with "throw the bums out" signs, sending tea bags to Washington, the term limits and divided government concepts being debated on talking-heads shows.
Are any organizations leading the charge here? I know there are Freeps in Washington, but there has to be something we here in fly-over country can do--and I am sick of calling dem staffers who could care less about my views.
I came up with several ideas---flying flag upside down, sending tea bags to Washington, some sort of ribbon or bumper sticker campaign
--somehow conservatives need to start building momentum to mitigate this disaster. Any ideas/thots
The time has come for all of us, every single Freeper, to display this sticker on the bumper of EVERY vehicle you own. And tell your friends to do the same. . When one or two MILLION Americans start popping up with these stickers everywhere, across the nation, people will start to ask what that means. AND THE WORD WILL SPREAD.

Excuse my ignorance but what does that mean? I know he was protagonist of Ayn Rand books, which I never read because I know it intuitively by reading constitution, but what’s the significance.

Just a couple of years ago a pastor in Indiana flew an American flag upside down at a public fain in a rural town and was just about tarred and feathered for it.
The Indiana folks there did not understand the coonotation - “distress” - of flying the flag upside down. Some thought it was unpatriotic, although that pastor is very patriotic.
If people are going to do this, I would recommend that you attempt to educate folks as to the meaning FIRST before flying the flag in this manner.
I live in AZ and I got a little email from McCain telling me the good news..he’s running for Senate again and please send him money and support him. I wrote back...

I chucked the first one thinking it was a hoax. Personally I don't think the Govt has any right knowing what grade in school my kids are, where they go to school, and if anyone in the house had a mental disorder - WHAT???? What does that have to do with the census? Apparently it help them decide where new funding will go for community services like school and public transportation. I just don't like the gov't getting all up in my business!

221. Refusal or neglect to answer questions; false answers

Sec. 222. Giving suggestions or information with intent to cause inaccurate enumeration of population
Whoever, either directly or indirectly, offers or renders to any officer or employee of the Department of Commerce or bureau or agency thereof engaged in making an enumeration of population under subchapter II, IV, or V of chapter 5 of this title, any suggestion, advice, information or assistance of any kind, with the intent or purpose of causing an inaccurate enumeration of population to be made, shall be fined not more than $1,000 or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.

A lot of my friends who own small businesses are just slashing stuff like crazy. One guy, a auto body shop who nets plenty of money, has decided to go out of business once and for all because we know those bills will come due and who’s on the hook for them. Once the life time unemployment benefits (1 year now) who will be on hook for them. Once UHC starts who will be on the hook for it.
Obama and liberals will never understand you can’t penalize producers with draconian legislation - we won’t play that - and nothing will get done. Everyone will all be broke but at least we’ll always be less broke and self sufficient, as always.
Please help your fellow man/woman though in time of need if SHTF...

Like O’s campaign, maybe need to just have some unifying themes or colors—don’t all have to be same—some with statue of liberty hand over face, some John Galt, some with teabags—black and green unifying theme and black and green ribbons flown on antennae or flag poles regardless of type of flag. I just would like/need to send a message to Washington and to others.
I am still liking idea of sending glasses or pic of glasses idea cause no one read the bill!!! This could even be a bumper sticker in black and green. They did not bother to leave enough time to read the bill :(
That is the idea - to incite upset. We want people to say "Hey isn't it wrong to fly the flag upside down?" Which give us a cause to say WHY we are doing it - A Nation in Distress! Flag protocol says the flag CAN be flown upside down as a signal of distress!
Remember people were pretty P.O.'d about the tea in the harbor - not everyone was on board!

That’s a wonderful way to spread the ‘word’ - I’m not much into symbolism of substance like the upside down flag stuff or black patch stuff but this sends a very clear message!

A grassroots initiative to express moral outrage over President Obama’s administration’ s promotion of abortion is garnering much Internet attention.
Just as American revolutionaries used tea to protest the action’s of the British government, those concerned with life are utilizing the power of red envelopes to protest abortion.
Supporters have been encouraged to send an empty red envelope to President Obama, symbolizing a single child who died because of abortion.
On the back of each envelope, is a handwritten message that reads: “This envelope represents one child who died in abortion. It is empty because that life was unable to offer anything to the world. Responsibility begins with conception.”
Word has it that Christ (rhymes with wrist) Otto is the creator of the Red Envelope Project.
“I have been involved in the pro-life movement for nearly 20 years, and it pained my heart to see a man (Obama) and a political party committed to the shedding of innocent blood,” says the email that’s been circulating on the project. “This man, and this party lead our country, but they do not represent me or the 54% of Americans who believe that abortion is wrong and should no longer be legal.”
The writer says that he came up with the idea while praying.
“As I was praying, I believe that God gave me an interesting idea. Out in the garage I have a box of red envelopes. Like the powerful image of the red LIFE tape, an empty red envelope will send a message to Barack Obama that there is moral outrage in this country over this issue. It will be quiet, but clear.”
There are a couple of sister web sites as well. According to one of them, RedEnvelopeProject. org, which is keeping track for those who enter the number of envelopes sent, more than 34,700 have been mailed to the White House so far. The campaign’s goal - 50 million - equals the total number of children who have died as a result of surgical abortion in this country since it’s legalization.

<<Someone is already doing a project—perhaps we need to take a cue and do something like this...send an envelope with something...green and black ribbon, tea bag glasses picture, etc to potus and congress.
