Oregon may soon become the first U.S. state to allow residents to identify as "nonbinary," neither male nor female, on their driver licenses and identification cards. Transgender Oregonians say the change would validate their identities and make them safer as they hand over their licenses at restaurants, health clinics and airports. Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles officials say they have had no opposition to the change, which they first announced plans to carry out last summer.

Lindsay Cutshall and Jason Allen were on a three-day sightseeing tour of Northern California in 2004 when they were shot to death at their campsite on a remote beach in Sonoma County. The slayings, just weeks before the couple were to be married, stunned the area and remained a cold case for more than a decade. But on Friday, a 38-year-old Forestville man was accused of the crime. Sonoma County Sheriff Steve Freitas said Shaun Gallon gunned down Cutshall, 22, and Allen, 26, as they camped on a beach in Jenner. Gallon, who was long considered a person of interest...

The disaster struck without the least warning. The ship had angled its blunt nose toward the mooring mast, the spider-like landing lines had been snaked down and the ground crew had grasped the ropes from the nose, when the explosion roared out, scattering ground crew and spectators like frightened sheep. The passengers, who were waving gayly a minute before from the observation windows, were so stunned they could not describe late what happened. Some jumped to the sandy landing field along with members of the crew. Others seemed to have been pitched from the careening skyliner as it made its...
  • California plans to tax space travel by the mile

    American Thinker ^ | May 5, 2017 | By Ed Straker
Liberals are salivating at the idea of taxing cars by the distance they travel, to better rake in money for their nefarious purposes. In California, they are taking the idea one step farther, planning to tax space rockets by the mile as well. According to the proposal, California will collect tax from space transportation companies based on a formula factoring in how often a company launches spacecrafts out of the state, and, most importantly, how far a commercial spacecraft travels from California soil. Between May and mid-October, there were eight launches from Vandenberg Air Force Base, in Santa Barbara County...

Mr Schear claims a member of...

A Fountain Valley man accused of illegally bringing 93 Asian songbirds on a flight from Vietnam -- most of which died in transit or soon after arriving at Los Angeles International Airport -- was arrested Tuesday on federal animal smuggling charges. Kurtis Law, 49, who also maintains a home in Vietnam, allegedly attempted to smuggle the tiny birds into the country on March 24. According to the affidavit in support of the complaint, investigators found several species of protected songbirds in Law's luggage that are covered under the federal Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and...
  • Discovery from IBM could enable more efficient oil extraction from existing wells

IBM scientists recently discovered that a drop of oil doesn't look like a drop at all if it is small, to the scale of one billionth of a billionth of a liter, or attoliter. Rather, a nanoscale oil droplet looks more like a flat film against a solid surface. This discovery reveals that the simulation tools and techniques commonly employed by the oil industry do not take into account the increased energy required to extract these oil molecules. And it results in 60 percent or more of a well's oil being left behind, for example, in the nanoscale capillaries of...

Apparently, even kids aren’t safe from the wrath of airline agents. A 12-year-old boy waiting to board a Delta flight from La Guardia Airport to Florida with his family had the cell phone smacked out of his hands by an airline employee who didn’t want him filming her excuses to weary passengers after a 17-hour delay, according to a suit filed in Rockland County. “She just came over and hit me,” the Suffern High School honor roll student told The Post Tuesday. “My phone went flying,” Boggan said. “I was in shock.” The Delta agent also yelled that it was...

Electric cars are coming fast -- and that’s not just the opinion of carmakers anymore. Total SA, one of the world’s biggest oil producers, is now saying EVs may constitute almost a third of new-car sales by the end of the next decade. The surge in battery powered vehicles will cause demand for oil-based fuels to peak in the 2030s, Total Chief Energy Economist Joel Couse said at Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s conference in New York on Tuesday. EVs will make up 15 percent to 30 percent of new vehicles by 2030, after which fuel “demand will flatten out,” Couse...

The Oscar-winning actor has been tight-lipped about the luxurious French Polynesian yacht cruise he went on with TV host Winfrey, rock legend Bruce Springsteen and the former U.S. President and First Lady, earlier this month (Apr17). But during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Friday (28Apr17), Hanks divulged that the trip was better than most people could ever imagine. "That made the news, it was really interesting. Both Oprah and I were really p***ed off," the 60-year-old joked. "Look, imagine what it could've been like it, triple it. It was off the scale, fantastic." Winfrey previously...

FULL TITLE: California camping trip turns to horror when a group of men threaten to rape woman if she is still in her tent by daybreak A local couple say their camping trip turned to horror after a gang of men threatened to rape a woman for staying on their 'territory'. The man and woman, who do not want to be named for fear of a reprisal attack, were staying at the Bear River Campground in Colfax, California, over Easter Weekend when they say they were approached by a group of campers. The men arrived in a rusted pickup truck,...
