FULL TITLE: Chaos at Fort Lauderdale airport as angry passengers clash with cops: Three are charged with inciting a riot and customers are thrown to the floor as ELEVEN canceled flights lead to ugly scenes
Furious passengers lashed out at police, were thrown to the floor and arrested during chaotic scenes at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Several people were detained during ugly confrontations with law enforcement when 11 Spirit Airlines flights were canceled and 26 were delayed at the Florida hub on Monday night because pilots refused to fly during a union dispute.
The group of passengers who clashed with cops were angry because the last-minute disruptions meant they would miss a graduation ceremony.
A mob of irate customers began beating the counters and screaming at staff, prompting airline employees to call the police.
Shocking footage shows people shouting as they are dragged from the terminal building. Women were also captured attacking officers, only to be thrown on the floor of the departure building. Some passengers applauded as the women were escorted out.

If they are angry, they should take it out on the pilots and their union.
Ahhhhh....Unions... the gift that keeps on giving! :)
I bet that was going to be some kind of graduation ceremony? Me thinks fighting would have erupted there too.
however, I'd be mad too....
we pay good money, upfront, and many times you can't get your money back or have to pay more to change a flight....they crush you into tiny seats...and they treat you like dirt generally...
but we still pay...
and for that pay, there should be some sort of guarantee that you will get to your destination at a reasonable time...
lol.
Saw the pics.
Trick Question: What do those arrested all have in common? :)
Though I must admit if I was missing a graduation for no good reason I would be pretty damn angry.
Not enough to get arrested though.
“we pay good money, upfront, and many times you can’t get your money back or have to pay more to change a flight....they crush you into tiny seats...and they treat you like dirt generally...
but we still pay...”
You all pay, I don’t!
Anybody who buys an airline ticket should expect....at the least...to be disrespected and/or sexually abused by the TSA.
It is probable that your flight will be cancelled.
It is probable that you will be randomly removed from a flight.
Should you complain about any of the above, it is probable that the police will beat you.
Why is anyone surprised by this? Why are people still buying tickets to support an industry that abuses them?
They will claim civil rights violations by the airline, by police, the FAA and Trump.
I'm not sure what the answer it. I've been through canceled flights before. I was upset...but I wasn't about to riot.
Maybe the solution here is to release the names and addresses of the pilots who refused to work...and let nature takes it's course.
“Anybody who buys an airline ticket should expect....at the least...to be disrespected and/or sexually abused by the TSA.”
Dude..or dudette I will board a Greyhound bus before ever boarding a plane in this day and age for this very reason.
Plus you did not bring up the fact that if they feel like it, mind you “feel like it” they will tear apart your luggage all over the place then cram it all back in. Now your clothing is all wrinkled and stuff is all messed up. Do they do this to the woman wearing the burka? Never!
Not enough to get arrested though.
I never go through the full body scanner. It’s always fun, at the end of the pat down, to ask, “Don’t I at least get a happy ending?”
In the old days, companies used Pinkerton guards during strikes. Today the police are used as agents of the airlines.
ummm.... you can’t get to many locations by train anymore, and certainly can’t get there at any speed (in the USA).
Airplanes are great, if only we could get the b.s. in our terrible TSA and airline bureaucracies straightened out.
You’re right.
This is true however if more people ditched airplanes because of the bad treatment and started using trains again more routes would pick up. Called “supply and demand”. Just have to get people pissed off enough at the airlines enough to make them stop using it and start using trains again.
Nice thing about a train? If they “overbook” they can add another passenger car and if needed an engine to pull it how cool is that?
That’s the new model, it has now been established that if you refuse to be satisfied eventually the airline with give you a fat check. Bad airline service is now winning the lottery.
