I have a new computer, on which I'm running Windows 10 and using Firefox version 45.0.2 as my browser. My FR account is set to "convenient," which is supposed to mean that I remain logged on even when I close my browser. But I keep finding that I'm logged when I close and later reopen Firefox. I don't have this problem on my other computers or my smartphone, so I'm thinking this is a Windows 10 or Firefox issue. Any ides as to what Firefox or Windows settings I need to adjust? Thanks.

The DNS server should be working now. Woo hoo! Dumb-dumb out of date records error led to administrative hold. John finally got them to update and release the hold. Long convoluted story, but that's not important. What's important now is that we're up and running just in the nick of time for Wisconsin.

Access to Free Republic through Yahoo, Verizon, Comcast and ATT was blocked today for some number of hours. Any additional information will be appreciated

Our internet service was switched from Verizon to Frontier Communications on April 1st. Since then I've had nothing but trouble. Now the worst has happened. It seems to be blocking access to FreeRepublic. Anyone else in Florida, Texas or Kalifornia experiencing the same?

I was surfing FR this afternoon and suddenly was unable to access any page on FR and the error stated the server could not be found. I located the IP address, 209.157.64.200, of the server and then added an entry into my PC's host file and I can now see FR again. I still do not see a DNS entry for FR, and that is interesting.

There's no link associated with this post. A few times now I've clicked on my Free Republic book mark and as soon as the page loads, my Malware reports "Malicious site blocked; mod.gov.al" Anyone have any ideas or insight on that? I wouldn't alert on it were it not for the .gov domain.

I've been here since 2000 and have always wondered why there is an asterisk in the Search box. I always delete it before I type in my search. Why is it there? Should I be leaving it there when I do my search?

I have some great Conservative-related pictures emailed to me on a regular basis. How do I post them to FR? Please understand, though. I am a computer nummie. I'm on Windows 7 now, but my first computer was a TRS Model 80. It was steam powered.... and part of me wishes I still had it. I've come to this site every day since Ted Cruz became a national political figure. Perhaps I'm just getting old with a failing memory but I can't recall any derogatory posts about Cruz until Donald Trump began his ad hominem attacks on him. I don't remember Freepers attacking him as he built a record in the senate. Can someone direct me to the threads and posts by the Freepers who now hate Cruz that were made prior to September of last year?

Seriously, what is the deal with the gibberish that substitutes for apostrophes when cutting and pasting text? Why can't it be fixed? It makes many posts virtually unreadable. Sorry for the rant, but I have not seen it discussed to any degree and it just seems to be accepted. Can someone please explain this issue and why there is no resolution?

I have been a member of FreeRepublic since February 1998, and in all my years I have ever seen so many Freepers support, and defend such a leftist candidate as Donald Trump. In the old days, any candidate that spouted the rhetoric coming out of his mouth would have been received with unanimous hatred from Freepers. Mitt Romney was met with scorn when he claimed to have changed and was more conservative than his record showed. Can we slow down on the Vanity posts. There is so much chaff on the site now it takes forever to get through the real news articles. The vanities lately have become screeds, responses to screeds, or simply horrible blog posts. I understand the irony of using a vanity to kill vanities. But, this junk has got to stop. That is all.
