There's no link associated with this post. A few times now I've clicked on my Free Republic book mark and as soon as the page loads, my Malware reports "Malicious site blocked; mod.gov.al" Anyone have any ideas or insight on that? I wouldn't alert on it were it not for the .gov domain.
mod.gov.al is the Albanian Ministry of Defense. No idea why it would be blocked.
Case of “bad bytes”!
Where did you get your malware software?
Damn Albanians! I just got another alert “mbrojtja.gov” blocked. If nothing else I’m feeling good about the money I spent for the Malware license.
Again?
The program is called Malware Bytes. Someone on FR recommended it and it’s been a good second line of defense with Avast. Well, I should say it started that way but I’m seeing these programs take on a lot of bloat lately.
I'd rather suspect that you should find why your computer is trying to take you there, and kill it.
All your sites are belong to us.
I thought that stuff was written in Elbonia, not Albania!
Oh, my.
Livin’ large in Hillbillystan!
>Livin large in Hillbillystan!
Heck yeah! And we do not welcome islamo trash or any anti-American filth.
You may want to check the add-ons and extensions in your browser.
If you are using IE, then click the little gear and click on “Manage Add-Ons” then click through each to see what is there. Maybe one of them is attempting to take you to that site.
Check/edit your FR bookmark, should be just something like “http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/*/index" or just “www.freerepublic.com”. .AL is “Albania” and that particular URL is the Albanian Defense Ministry...looks alright in the english version (my AV didn’t alert & no popups, etc.): http://www.mod.gov.al/eng/index.php (Is is a very slow server tho...Albanian govt. not spending too much on bandwidth apparently).
You may be the only FReeper to visit a .gov website......
bkmk
Also, you might want to do a full scan on your local PC...some malware that your AV didn’t detect might be trying to do “redirects”, then your AV IS detecting on the redirects.
In addition, AV “second opinions” are good:

I agree with whoever recommended malwarebytes anti-virus, the free version is great don’t need the pay upgrade
