Mummy’s older than we thought: new find could rewrite history

...The sophistication of the body’s mummification process and the materials used – including its exceptionally fine linen dressing and high-quality resin – was not thought to have been achieved until 1,000 years later.

Professor Salima Ikram, head of Egyptology at the American University in Cairo and a leading expert on the history of mummification, told the Observer: “If this is indeed an Old Kingdom mummy, all books about mummification and the history of the Old Kingdom will need to be revised.”

She added: “This would completely turn our understanding of the evolution of mummification on its head. The materials used, their origins, and the trade routes associated with them will dramatically impact our understanding of Old Kingdom Egypt....

So the “history” before now was simply a guess? But believe the new timeline, until another one comes along. Believe the SCIENCE!

I don’t believe anything out of these Egypt “experts”. That douche with the Indiana Jones hat you see on every special is an autocrat who allows no dissenting theories.

The Egyptian time line is based on the Kings List and another list of kings ?Manetheo? - many of the first kings mentioned are unknown, some historical kings are omitted, but thought to use a different name (pharaohs often changed their names, sometimes to that of some previous pharaoh). Worse, one list is known to be an 18th century forgery bought in a bazaar but is used anyway).

As you can read, there is lots of opportunities for confusion, mistaken IDs and so on. So with that you are correct in part - much of the time line is a guess and a by golly.

To make matters even more obscure, there were two Interregnums - periods of utter chaos with no Pharaohs where many things were destroyed in riots - these periods lasted for 100-200 years. Like some future archeologist 5,000 years later finding Antifa had rampaged across America for 150 years and reconstructing life and achievements in the US.

Now add in the prohibition by the Egyptian Antiquities Department on using modern dating techniques ; one fellow managed to get an optical bio-thermolucence (measures the time that has elapsed since mineral grains were exposed to daylight) reading on 2 sites before being shut down, both giving dates over 1000 years older than they were supposed to be.

Mark Lehner and Zahi Hawass (the Hat Guy, and lecher) control all of our information of Ancient Egypt ; they are part of the vested Egyptology business, stretching back to the 18th Century. The worst case of historical consensus thinking imaginable.

If you watch the specials on Egypt you will learn virtually nothing about ancient Egypt. What you do learn will only skim the outer fringes and be mostly wrong in any case.

If you want more info, read “Egyptian Dawn,” “The Sphinx Mystery,” “The Crystal Sun,” and “Netherworld” by Robert Temple - unique because he does not simply recount and consolidate various theories, but actually went to the various Giza monuments. He includes many translated papers and articles written a century ago along with copious images of the monuments in detail you will not see on TV. “Giza Power” by Chis Dunn delves into how things were made from an engineering and machinist point of view. Did you know that the Old Kingdom Egyptians did not think as we do (logically), but symbolically?

‘The preserved body of a high-ranking nobleman called Khuwy, discovered in 2019, has been found to be far older than assumed and is, in fact, one of the oldest Egyptian mummies ever discovered.’

Mummy was a boy.

Believe the SCIENCE!

When I hear someone say that, I generally ask, "Which version? Yesterday's science, today's science, or tomorrow's science?"

Lately, I have been very interested in the shows on ancient Egypt on the NatGeo channel, but this makes even me yawn and say "Whatever."

It will be different when mummies finally start writing their own history themselves.
