The ***OFFICIAL*** Friday/Saturday Night Singles' Thread February 24th and 25th, 2006
Me ^ | February 24, 2006 | Me

Posted on 02/24/2006 5:11:41 PM PST by najida

Guess who's hosting this edition of the singles thread!?! Scary, ain't it folks.

Anyhow, in the process of cleaning out boxes, it came to me....the questions that we all ask ourselves as we uncover chunks of our long lost past.....

What WAS I thinking!?!

So, my questions to all of you are:

What hobby or interest did you have when you were younger that you still have a passion for?

Ok, now....is there something you used to do that you now think "I can't believe I used to like that!"

Same with music---
What was your favorite band/song in highschool, then early adulthood compared to now? (Those still in early adulthood have only 2 questions to answer. Or maybe just one ;))

Is there anything in your interests, hobbies or life that would surprise people who know you? (Nothing weird, just.....) And if it invovles being on wanted posters, you can skip the question :)

I am so fuzzy tonight....

I thought that was a balloon....
without a string.

Gee wizz....
I need to lie down for a bit!

Don't feel bad,
I thought it was a balloon.

And I haven't even opened a bottle of whine, whine,
WINE yet.

Boy, I'm slow tonight; it took me a while to get that.

At first, I thought it was some kind of graphic metaphor for the singles thread.

Fingers, don't fail me now!!!

:-)

BTW, I was just going to mention-in a musical vein-the new albums written and produced by Ray Davies, my favorite English musician since the premature death of Ian Dury, and one of the two best, along with Joe Jackson.

I haven't heard the most recent full-length record, but did listen to his single "Thanksgiving Day," which had three or four songs on it.

It was pretty good.

To some degree.

I spent 12 years at a NAPA store previously, but whether it is a car or piece of equipment they are making things too complicated now.

I'm sorry, missed the ping altogether!

I will probably bring the thread to a screaching halt with this but when I was young I wanted to quilt, raise a garden, have children, own some acreages and horses. I did for many years, then went to work, all my priorities changed and now, I long for what I had in the past. No thank you on the children, love them and don't want to create another set but I could do the garden, acreage, etc. Only difference now is I'd want to work at least part time.

My next goal is the cabin in the woods (for retirement), I'm pretty happy doing what I do for right now.

I wonder if anyone longs for a more old fashioned way of existance? Any pros or cons about what we used to do. (I ain't THAT old by the way!!)

True,
Why is it there are always screws left over after you take something apart and put it back together?

"Joe Jackson's still around"?

Is that the guy who sang "Skinny Legs and All"?

Then, of course, there's J.J. Jackson with "But Its Alright". (You can hurt me, but its alright).

Thank you!

I have an album of his tucked away somewhere....
The funniest song he ever wrote was "Everything Gives You Cancer" (OK, that sounds creepy, but it really is a funny song)

Well, I have a talent for finding trouble.

Or, maybe trouble has a talent for finding me.

Anyway you put it, trouble and me are no strangers.

It's the law of nature, you leave two screws together and what do you think they are going to do? Make more screws. Just don't leave them together for too long.

JJ Jackson, But Its Alright

"You don't know how I feel

You'll never know how I feel

When I needed you to come around

You always tried to put me down

But I know girl, believe me when I say

You are surely, surely gonna pay"

Some of the lyrics. Remember the song now?

Welcome Hoodlum,

We were just talking about screws. You know when you take something apart, you always have some leftover, next thing you know, you have more than you know what to do with!

Oh, and I think there was something about what you had dreams of when you were young, did you achieve them? Do you still have those same goals? And what were they?

What were your dreams/goals in life?
