Posted by Kristinn Taylor on Sunday, January 4, 2015, 1:10 PM Black protesters targeted white people eating brunch today at New York City restaurants. As protests across the country carry on without relent, the top brass running the show have put some serious thinking into how best to achieve racial equality. Apparently, part of the plan involves directions as to what white folks who want to protest can, and cannot do. I guess black people want to make sure white people keep their white privilege in check. Or something like that. Not sure. The Right Scoop has printed screen shots of these lists at a demonstration in Boston, which are hand written on large pieces of paper. Some instructions are in black. Others in...

One day an old German shepherd starts chasing rabbits and before long, discovers that he's lost.. Wandering about, he notices a panther heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch. The old German shepherd thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep s*** now!"Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the panther is about to leap, the old German shepherd exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious panther! I wonder if there are any more around here?"Hearing this, the...

In a Dec. 5 op-ed, the president of California State University (CSU) claimed if you are “light skinned” you have “significant unearned privilege” and routinely think less of those who are different than yourself. In her piece, “Privilege at The Beach,”—referencing the Long Beach area where the school resides—Jane Close Conoley, a white woman herself, asserts that “light skin color and high income levels may attract significant unearned privilege.” Those who qualify for such privilege, often unknowingly exert distrust and “lower expectations of behavior” on those of another skin color. “Those who are less affluent with darker skin or from...

RAMOS: But many people expected you probably to do more on race relations, dealing with white privilege. Do you get angry with this? POTUS: Well, you know, I — RAMOS: Is it your responsibility? POTUS: I think that if you look at the history of race in America, it’s usually not a single moment when suddenly everything gets solved. It’s a process...

Most white Americans demonstrate bias against blacks, even if they're not aware of or able to control it. It's a surprisingly little-discussed factor in the anguishing debates over race and law enforcement that followed the shootings of unarmed black men by white police officers. Such implicit biases -- which, if they were to influence split-second law enforcement decisions, could have life or death consequences -- are measured by psychological tests, most prominently the computerized Implicit Association Test, which has been taken by over two million people online at the website Project Implicit. Based on this data, it appears that whites...

....When Ramos asked Obama if it’s his “responsibility” to improve race relations and address “white privilege” in the United States, the president argued race relations have improved dramatically over the decades — even some in the time that he’s been in office. He never did specifically address the “white privilege” portion of the loaded question. ..... I don’t think were living in the 50s and remembering what it was like to be black or Hispanic and interacting with the police then,” Obama added. “There has been improvement, the question is: What more do we need to do?”

With the national uproar surrounding the unpunished police killings of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, some white Americans say they are rethinking the lack of diversity in their lives—and the work they need to do to help create social change that lasts. Take Philadelphia artist Katherine Fritz. In her attempt to understand events in Ferguson, she stumbled upon a 2013 national survey finding that white American social circles tend to be 91 percent white. Intrigued, she tested this finding in her own life. A self-described liberal who uses the term “micro-aggressions,” she was surprised to find that her social circle...

(CNSNews.com) - Speaking at a "college opportunity summit" on Thursday, First Lady Michelle Obama described "two worlds" of college-bound students: "[T]he fact is that right now, a small number of students are getting every advantage in the college admissions race, while millions of other students who are just as talented can't even begin to compete."Mrs. Obama was making a pitch for expanded college counseling. She said too many students go through school without any real guidance on how to get into college or how to pay for it. She described one world, where students "don't know what classes to take,...

The concept of white privilege remains controversial in the same way people still argue about climate change. A small, increasingly-fringe faction might argue that it doesn't exist at all. Another broad, more conservative group might concede that it does, technically, exist, but still disagree about what it means, whether it's important and what, if anything, we can do about it. Still, many others would argue that acknowledging and working to understand it is an important step toward fixing the problem -- in the case of white privilege, the problem being compounded, inter-generational inequality that, although sometimes subtle, is still present...

What follows is for the benefit of one William James O'Reilly Jr. -- "Bill" to his fans. Last summer, Mr. O'Reilly, a pundit for Fox "News," spent time talking about white privilege and his contention that no such thing exists. He debated this with colleague Megyn Kelly, and sparred about it with Jon Stewart of "The Daily Show." Part of Mr. O'Reilly's reasoning is that because Asian-Americans (according to him) make more money and are better educated than whites, what we really should be talking about is "Asian privilege."

Two juveniles are in custody Sunday, suspected in the death of a man beaten with hammers on a St. Louis street. The victim, 32-year-old Zemir Begic, suffered injuries to his head, abdomen, face and mouth, according to police. He was unconscious by the time officers arrived. Begic was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. “Investigation revealed the victim was traveling in his vehicle when several juveniles approached his vehicle on foot and began damaging it. “The victim exited his vehicle and the juveniles began yelling at the victim and striking him with hammers. After...

All day people gathered, waiting, daring to hope, that maybe this time black lives would matter. Minutes passed. Then hours. And, as darkness descended on the streets of Ferguson, Missouri, the now enormous crowd continued to wait patiently -- trying its best to remain optimistic. Perhaps, despite so many decades of history, black people really could find justice in the American legal system. That such a faith still flickered was, itself, remarkable. Everyone standing outside of the Ferguson police station awaiting news on whether the grand jury would indict police officer Darren Wilson well remembered what happened on February 26,...

I am writing in response to Kurt Miller's Nov. 22 guest column, in which he states that "white privilege is a racist term." The definition of white privilege I use is from Dr. Beverly Tatum, who writes, "White people ... sometimes struggle with the concept of white privilege. What are the benefits or the advantages to being white in a society that has historically given benefits and advantages to members of the dominant group? If you are a person who has that privilege, you don't necessarily notice it." I'd like to think I have earned everything I have through my...

Benefiting from white privilege is automatic. Defending white privilege is a choice.

In the days before the grand jury’s decision in Ferguson, when Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon decided to impose a pre-emptive state of emergency, a white relative posted on my Facebook page, “Better to be prepared for the worse, than to have racially charged riot. [sic] At that point, no one cares what your political view points are, who you married or what God you pray too, only that you are White and you are Wrong.” This essay is for my cousin and every other white person who is well meaning but somehow feels hopelessly polarized in a racially polarized debate. It doesn’t have to be that way.

*I have previously written several articles about how most Americans are pretty clueless. The results of the last elections showed that. A lot of Americans stayed home, and people from states that depend heavily on government programs, such as food stamps, welfare and social security, elected Republicans — the very people who have said they plan to slash these programs. MIT professor Jonathan Gruber, the architect of Obamacare, caught flak for referring to American voters as stupid, but he is right. Bill Maher, who is known for his biting comedy, recently ran a video montage showing all the times...

According to Onan Coca, "Dr. David Pook is a professor at Granite State College in Manchester, New Hampshire. He's also the chair of the History Department and one of the authors of the Common Core standards. He was a guest at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics when he opened up on his reasons for participating in the creation of the Common Core standards." So what were his reasons? You are about to learn the motivation behind Common Core through one of its authors. The truth is, not surprisingly to some, that Common Core is very racist and very political....
