Two juveniles are in custody Sunday, suspected in the death of a man beaten with hammers on a St. Louis street.
The victim, 32-year-old Zemir Begic, suffered injuries to his head, abdomen, face and mouth, according to police.
He was unconscious by the time officers arrived. Begic was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
“Investigation revealed the victim was traveling in his vehicle when several juveniles approached his vehicle on foot and began damaging it.
“The victim exited his vehicle and the juveniles began yelling at the victim and striking him with hammers. After the assault, the juveniles fled the scene on foot,” read an incident report.
Two suspects were later located and taken into custody, police said. They are 15 and 16.
A motive for the attack was not immediately clear. An investigation is ongoing.
Missing information: race of victim and attackers. Betting window is open.
Wonder what exactly they were yelling?
Had they been age thirteen....they might just get juvenile court. At fifteen and sixteen....adult court. Second-degree murder charges. You can figure a minimum of twenty-five years in prison. The parents? If they really cared about their kids....they would have forced them to stay home that night.
Did a search and found an article that says he was Bosnian. So not a hate crime.

That was his second mistake. The thugs had deadly weapons (hammers). The victim had a bigger, better deadly weapon (a vehicle). The victim should not have disarmed himself.
First mistake? Being there. If he didn't live in the thug neighborhood, he should not have gone there. If he lived in a thug neighborhood, he should have moved away.

I get Clery Act notifications from Georgia Tech each time an incident with a student happens relating to crime (on campus or surrounding area).
The emails usually come about once a week with the description of robbery by black males, many brandishing guns, etc. No harm - usually.
I just got one this weekend where they hit the student in the face and he had to be taken to the hospital. Three black males.
I’m guessing this is Ferguson’s Legacy of Black Lives mean something, huh?

This is sick. If the victim had attacked the thugs and killed one to save himself, he would’ve been vilified and his life ruined. Some reasonable adult is going to have to take charge and stop pandering to thugs, or the results will be horrific.
Juveniles? Second degree murder? A minimum of 25 years in prison? Is Missouri that much tougher on crime than much of the country?
If the guy had a gun and used it to defend himself, he would have been made into a racist villain by the Press. Now he is dead with no physical harm to the perps, so proof he is not a racist. [/s]

BINGO! If this story goes beyond St. Louis (which I doubt) we will be hearing about how the late Zemir Begic actually was at fault here. Similar to the way any time an airliner goes down and the pilots are killed, the crash is labeled as “Pilot Error”.
Time to ban hammers.
I don’t know how long the victim was in this country, but he may have simply underestimated the racial animosity with which unassimilated minorities are infused.
Hate crime, he was lily white.
