  • Is freerepublic being censored/shadow banned/throttled by search engines?

I have repeatedly noticed that articles posted on freerepublic are seldom seen in search engine results. When I have searched for article I post on Gun Watch, which is a small blog, the Gun Watch articles appear in search engines. When the identical article is posted on Freerepublic, it does not show up on search engines, unless the search term freerepublic is specifically included. Freerepublic has a much greater circulation than Gun Watch. Has anyone else seen evidence the search engines undervalue freerepublic?

The anti-gun politimedia wasted no time at all demonizing the most common rifle in the United States as being the real villain of the Islamic terrorist attack on Pulse nightclub in Orlando. Newsweek screamed, “ORLANDO SHOOTING PUTS SPOTLIGHT ON AR-15 RIFLE.” Judd Legume of Think Progress squeaked, “The NRA’s Love Affair With The AR-15, Weapon Of Choice For Mass Murderers, In 22 Tweets.” Always wrong Christopher Ingraham of the Washington Post whined, “The gun used in the Orlando shooting is becoming mass shooters’ weapon of choice.” Here’s the thing. The rifle used by the Islamist terrorist in Orlando was not...
  • Banning Gun Sales to People on No-Fly List May Not Be Constitutional, Experts Say (Capt Obvious)

On Thursday, Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy announced plans to issue an executive order barring anyone listed on federal terrorist watch lists from purchasing a gun in the state. But while the idea of “no fly, no gun” has found growing support following the mass shooting in San Bernardino last week, including that of President Obama, experts say such a policy may be unconstitutional. The problem lies with the terrorist watch lists themselves, which are both secret and routinely updated without the typical due process given to those who are accused of breaking the law, such as court proceedings. Without a...

Forget Syria. The most dangerous religious extremists are migrants from North and South Carolina. Another terrorist attack. Another grim tally of the dead and wounded. Another killer full of hate, from a land that breeds such men. Like millions of migrants before him, the perpetrator crossed the border unchallenged. And like others, he struck our country without warning. Our politicians say they'll stop these killers. They talk about building walls and vetting refugees. If we were serious, we would do it. We would seal our borders against North Carolina. North Carolina? It sounds absurd. When we think about immigration and...

[..]This ignores the fact of how stupid terrorist watch lists are because they don't do the job the government claims they're supposed to. The Intercept (which isn't exactly a conservative or libertarian publication) got hold of the National Counterterrorism Center guidelines for putting people on watch lists last year. Some of these guidelines includes social media and what 'walk-ins' say, even if government employees are told not to use hunches. So, yes, you might be on a terrorist watch list if you tweet, Facebook, or use other social media sites to post an article someone doesn't like. The rules are so...

Classified documents leaked from the National Counterterrorism Center and published Wednesday reveal almost half of the nearly 700,000 terrorist suspects included on the government’s terrorist watchlist have no connection to known terrorists. According to the documents obtained by The Intercept, out of the 680,000 people included on the list, 280,000 have ”no recognized terrorist group affiliation,” making it the largest category of any other on the list of ”known or suspected terrorists.” The next-largest specific terrorist organization on the list is al-Qaida in Iraq, with only 73,189 people. Mayor Mike is coming for your guns, but not even this administration — or this Congress — is naive enough to play along.Bloomberg appealed to Congress this week to address what is oddly being called the "terror gap," but which supporters of Second Amendment rights better describe as "secret government lists." The question is this: Should U.S. citizens on terror watch lists be allowed to purchase firearms? The answer from Congress is yes (though the Huffington Post and the New York Times would have you believe it's just Republicans obstructing Bloomberg's "common sense" proposal). There are as many as one million names on...

WASHINGTON (AFP) – US terror watch lists have been radically overhauled after a foiled attack on a US-bound jet, the White House said Monday, as President Barack Obama prepared for key talks on the security scare. The news came as tougher screening procedures for all US-bound air travelers swung into effect in airports around the world. Obama, who has denounced "systemic" intelligence failures in the Christmas Day plot, was preparing to meet with US intelligence chiefs and security officials on Tuesday to review the findings of two probes into the incident. But White House spokesman Bill Burton said "safety and...

The New York Times August 1, 2004 A.C.L.U. to Withdraw From Charity Drive By ADAM LIPTAK The American Civil Liberties Union withdrew from a federal charity drive yesterday, rejecting the $500,000 it expected to receive through it this year. The move was prompted, the civil liberties group said, by an article in The New York Times yesterday. The article reported that the group had signed a certification saying it would not knowingly employ people whose names appeared on several government terrorism watch lists. Since October, all of the thousands of charities that participate in the drive, called the Combined Federal...
