There is no democracy without a free press. That’s been echoed by many people. Here’s one view: The purpose of a free press is to ensure that the people are free to receive and impart information that is not manipulated or serving a particular person, entity or interest. Its duty, in fact, is often to investigate people of power, and especially the government, to ask the hard questions and to attempt to uncover what’s really happening, regardless of the political fallout.“not manipulated or serving a particular person.”Today much of the press is manipulated in favor of a particular person- Joe...

Just in case you had any faith left in our federal governing and law enforcement agencies, let me go ahead and douse out that final flicker of hope. FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate admitted Tuesday the FBI redacted mention of audio recordings of Joe and Hunter Biden in a document shown last week to Republican lawmakers in which an FBI informant alleged the Bidens were involved in a bribery scheme. (The document is unclassified). So, Chuck Grassley let us know about the reality of audio recordings of the Biden's taking bribes from Burisma. But the crazy part isn't the recordings....

Rep. Matt Gaetz (FL-01) sent a letter this week to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland demanding that the Department of Justice preserve and produce all records from the office of Special Counsel Jack Smith. According to a release, Rep. Gaetz’s letter highlights the highly irregular and extreme targeting of President Donald J. Trump by Special Counsel Jack Smith and his office at...

Attorney General Merrick Garland defended the discretion of special counsel Jack Smith amid growing attacks on the prosecution and the Justice Department. While he wouldn’t comment on the indictment of former President Trump directly, he said Wednesday that Smith’s work is a reflection of the Justice Department’s obligation to “independence and accountability.” “When I appointed Mr. Smith, I did so because it underscores the Justice Department’s commitment to both independence and accountability,” Garland said. “Mr. Smith is a veteran career prosecutor. He has assembled a group of experienced and talented prosecutors and agents who share his commitment to integrity and...

President Biden leads former President Trump by four points, according to a hypothetical general election poll released Wednesday. The Quinnipiac University poll found that 48 percent of respondents would support Biden over Trump, who received 44 percent of support. While Biden’s support is unchanged since the last poll in late May, Trump’s support has dropped 2 points

RUSH: But I want to, ladies and gentlemen, for the moment focus on the incident in Oregon involving guns. The president went out and spoke late Friday afternoon at the White House, had a press conference. During the Q&A, Jonathan Karl of ABC News said, "Back in July, Mr. President, you said that the gun issue has been the most frustrating of your presidency. We certainly heard that frustration from you last night. So in the last 15 months of your presidency, do you intend to do anything differently to get Congress to act or to do something about this...

BETTENDORF, Iowa - An early copy of Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry's government reform speech shared with the Des Moines Register shows the Texas governor is planning to propose widespread changes for the federal government, including term limits on federal judges and Supreme Court justices, a part-time Congress, and laws criminalizing insider trading. The governor first previewed the reforms in a speech Monday evening at an event by the Scott County Republican Party, where he said, "Washington doesn't need a new coat of paint, it needs a complete overhaul." Today, he will deliver the details of his plan in a...

BETTENDORF, Iowa — Gov. Rick Perry is proposing to bring a little Texas to Washington — with a “part-time citizen Congress” that doesn’t meet so often, and whose members earn only half of what they make now. The Republican presidential hopeful will also call for an end to lifetime appointments for federal judges, including members of the U.S. Supreme Court. And, as he proposed in his famous debate-night flub last week, Perry will vow to shut down three agencies of government. This time he will remember all three: the U.S. Departments of Education, Commerce and Energy. “Washington doesn’t need a...

The five reasons I asserted that Governor Perry would have the best shot at beating Obama were simple ones: He decisively created more jobs than Obama. He greatly respects and tries to encourage small businesses. He has a clear understanding of federalism and what states shouldn't be forced into. He has solid core convictions that replicate most of America. And he could unite the core conservative Democrats, Republicans and Independents across the nation on economic, social and defense policy. All five of those reasons remain -- even now -- solidly relevant and valid. However, he's certainly nowhere near where I...
