A group of protesters ultimately stopped the New Jersey State Assembly from approving a bill that would have added state debt for a new sports arena in an illegal manner. Activists from stopthedebt.com, United Taxpayers of New Jersey, and other citizens' advocacy groups packed the room where the Assembly hearing was held in Trenton. The hearing was called for 2 pm.
