Earlier today Allahpundit looked at the negotiations taking place between Christina Blasey Ford and the Judiciary Committee. The GOP agreed to push the date to Wednesday but is requiring that Ford testify first. A Politico story published today points to one additional factor which is apparently motivating Ford to push the date of the hearing back as far as possible: She plans to drive cross country to the hearing in Washington, DC. The GOP has been told that Ford does not want to fly from her California home to Washington, according to the Republican senator, which means she may need...

Refugees are not simply impoverished migrants. A refugee is defined, by a 1951 international convention, as a person who, “owing to well-founded fear of being persecuted … is outside the country of his nationality and is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country.” The maximum number of refugees that the U.S. should accept in a given year is a fraught question. Dara Lind reports that in the final year of the Carter administration, federal officials settled on the answer 231,700. Under Reagan, the answer fluctuated between a high of 217,000...

Wallace said he views the statement from Rosenstein as "very weak," and written in a "lawyerly" fashion. "I think it's very careful," said Wallace, adding that Rosenstein only asserted there is "no basis" currently for the 25th Amendment to be considered. He said Rosenstein did not specifically say anything about whether he discussed wearing a "wire" or brought up the 25th Amendment. Wallace said the story will raise questions about Rosenstein's frame of mind right around the time he appointed Special Counsel Robert Mueller to investigate potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Jon Scott noted that, according to...

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, is calling on colleagues to “show some heart” and wait until at least next Thursday to bring before the panel the woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault. Feinstein criticized Republican colleagues on Friday for announcing a proposal to bring Christine Blasey Ford before the Judiciary Committee next Wednesday, even though Ford’s lawyers have already said their client cannot appear before Thursday. “Dr. Ford is receiving death threats. She’s had her identity stolen and her email account hacked. She fled her home wither family. But...

The Evening Campaign Update (Because The Campaign Never Ends) Event #1 – The newsfakers at the New York Times suddenly decided they needed to change the overriding narrative heading into the weekend, issuing an obvious bit of #fakenews claiming – according to anonymous sources, of course – that Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein wanted to wear a wire to his meetings in mid-2017 with President Donald Trump, and also told Robert Mueller that he could recruit cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment as a way to remove Trump from office. Rosenstein blasted back with an outright, unqualified denial of both...

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is challenging a bombshell story in The New York Times alleging that he discussed secretly recording President Trump last year, calling it “inaccurate” and “factually incorrect.” Rosenstein in a statement released by the Justice Department also said that there was “no basis” to invoke the 25th Amendment, after the Times reported that he proposed recruiting various Cabinet officials to take such a step in order to remove Trump from office over his unfitness. “The New York Times’s story is inaccurate and factually incorrect,” Rosenstein said. “I will not further comment on a story based on...

The deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, suggested last year that he secretly record President Trump in the White House to expose the chaos consuming the administration, and he discussed recruiting cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Mr. Trump from office for being unfit. Mr. Rosenstein made these suggestions in the spring of 2017 when Mr. Trump’s firing of James B. Comey as F.B.I. director plunged the White House into turmoil. Over the ensuing days, the president divulged classified intelligence to Russians in the Oval Office, and revelations emerged that Mr. Trump had asked Mr. Comey to...

George Papadopoulos, the Trump campaign volunteer targeted by the Deep State and foreign spies let loose on Twitter this week and claimed he was targeted by US allies and “Obama knew!” Papadopoulos tweeted on September 13th that the Brits met with him often before the 2016 campaign – While I have never met a Russian official in my life knowingly, the British government liked to meet me quite often throughout the campaign. Including Tobias Ellwood, who was right under Boris Johnson, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.— George Papadopoulos (@GeorgePapa19) September 14, 2018 Papadopoulos notified the FBI that he thought...

Today’s Campaign Update (Because The Campaign Never Ends) Annnndddd the race between Cruz and O’Rourke is…still all over the damn place. – A polling group that calls itself Vox Populi came out with a poll in the Texas senate race on Thursday, showing Ted Cruz and Irish Bob O’Rourke tied at 50-50 in the race. In its sample, Vox Populi included 39% Republicans and 36% Democrats, a sample that the group apparently feels is reflective of the Texas voter population. Think about that for a minute. Texas is a state in which no Democrat has won a statewide election in...

Peace out, love you!” Jack Black concluded. Tuesday’s remarks were the first time in more than a year Black had publicly taken shot at President Trump. Last February, the Kong Fu Panda star said he hoped actress Meryl Streep would win an Academy...

President Donald Trump has done “irreparable” damage to the United States and is “impeachable,” regardless of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, a House Democrat said Thursday. Texas Representative Al Green, who has forced two failed votes to begin impeachment proceedings against Trump, renewed his call in an interview with Hill.TV. "What he has done to this society is harmful and in some cases it may be irreparable,” Green said on the media outlet’s Rising show. He gave the example of Trump telling “police officers that you don’t have to be nice, when you’re arresting someone.” "These are the kinds of...

Editor: President Trump’s tax cuts are working — in more ways than one. Just take a look at the energy industry. Because of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, more than 100 electric, gas, and water utility providers have slashed their rates, rewarding customers with cheaper energy. All in all, recent utility rate reductions amount to $3 billion. That’s $3 billion in energy savings for Main Street America. Having a level playing field for all forms of energy, and employing an “all of the above” strategy, lowers the price you pay for energy. And financially healthy energy companies are better...

President Donald Trump deviated from his previously measured comments about the woman who has accused his Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault when he questioned Thursday why the woman didn't call the police 36 years ago, when she says the incident happened. "Why didn't somebody call the FBI 36 years ago? I mean you could also say when did this all happen, what's going on? To take a man like this and besmirch -- now with that being said, let her have her say and let's see how it all works out," Trump said during an interview on...

The White House Blue Room is getting a new old look. Melania Trump has announced the restoration of a collection of furniture made for the White House by Frenchman Pierre-Antoine Bellange. The first lady says a team of curators has spent more than a decade restoring the furniture. The Committee for the Preservation of the White House approved the restoration project. President James Monroe bought the Bellange suite in 1817. Almost all of it had been auctioned off in 1859....
