Our troops are embattled in Iraq, and every day that conflict seems to get uglier. We are in the midst of a global war on terrorism whose front lines can be anywhere and which appears to have no end. And the goal of security for Americans in their homes is far away and not certain. In the midst of all this, a Texas lawyer, John O'Neill, decides to refight the Vietnam War, which ended nearly 30 years ago, and by taking on Kerry's proud claims of heroic service, attempts to make them the defining issue of the 2004 presidential election....

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A Vietnam veterans group that has spent $19.5 million attacking John Kerry's military record and character bought $500,000 in Minnesota TV advertising time on Friday for the presidential campaign's final three days. "We had some extra donations and figured that Minnesota would be a good place to put the money," said Chris LaCivita, a strategist for the Swift Boat Veterans and POWs for Truth. Steven Schier, a Carleton College political scientist, said that "you wouldn't see an ad buy like this" if Minnesota were not "ground zero in the presidential race."

URGENTRight now, we are only able to afford to air ads in two states. We need to at least get into Pennsylvania. If all of our email contributors simply repeat 75% of their first contribution, we can do it. And if you have thought about giving but have yet to do so, this is it. We need your help now. Most of us survived on Navy pay, so we know how difficult this might be. But, we also know how important it is. Help us get into Pennsylvania. Without your help, we will have to abandon any advertising in...

Bill O'Reilly of "The O'Reilly Factor" fame might not know this, or even care for that matter, but the principal members of a Manhattan law firm defending him in a $60 million sexual harassment lawsuit have close ties to the Democratic Party and have been generous contributors to various candidates over the years, among them Sen. Chuck Schumer, Rep. Nita Lowey and Westchester County Executive Andrew Spano. This is mentioned here in the interest of full disclosure (call it the "O'Reisman Factor") since O'Reilly's legal team has oddly accused plaintiff Andrea Mackris' lawyer, Benedict P. Morelli, of being such an...

As if O'Reilly doesn't have enough trouble stirring around him these days.... Last night on Factor he and Kerry biographer, Douglas Brinkley, had a smooch-fest to celebrate the paperback release of Brinkleys's Tour of Duty. Left unsaid, by both, was the fact that O'Reilly publicly praised Brinkley's book before its original, hardback printing. Can we say, "HUGE CONFLICT OF INTEREST"? In fact, the obviously love-struck Brinkley liked O'Reilly's thumbs-up so much they both agreed to publish....

Mystery Surrounds Kerry's Navy Discharge BY THOMAS LIPSCOMB - Special to the Sun October 13, 2004 An official Navy document on Senator Kerry's campaign Web site listed as Mr. Kerry's "Honorable Discharge from the Reserves" opens a door on a well kept secret about his military service. The document is a form cover letter in the name of the Carter administration's secretary of the Navy, W. Graham Claytor. It describes Mr. Kerry's discharge as being subsequent to the review of "a board of officers." This in it self is unusual. There is nothing about an ordinary honorable discharge action in...

blank John Kerry's Supporters AgainTry to Muzzle His CriticsSmear campaign launched against Sinclair Broadcasting after it announces plans to air "Stolen Honor" nationwide The Kerry camp is at it again. After trying -- unsuccessfully -- to block the publication of "Unfit for Command," his supporters are now working to force Sinclair Broadcasting Group to pull back from plans to air the documentary film "Stolen Honor" on its 62 nationwide affiliates later this month. The documentary vividly portrays the impact of John Kerry's false testimony and statements about the Vietnam War. As brave soldiers endured torture, starvation and death behind enemy...

Monday, October 11, 2004. -- New York-based ReganBooks today unveiled an anti-Bush book, Unfit Commander, in an apparent effort to capitalize on the hyper-successful anti-Kerry book by Regnery Publishing, Unfit for Command. Surprisingly, ReganBooks, a generally highly regarded publisher, lifted virtually every aspect of the Regnery book's appearance -- the title, colors, layout, font, even the finger-pointing style of the picture used on the jacket all mimic Regnery's effective cover. Perhaps the imitation should come as no surprise, given the success of Unfit for Command. Sources at Regnery (a HUMAN EVENTS sister company) say that almost 500,000 copies of Unfit...

Navy Chief is a credible poster at the SBV forum (he broke the news the Kerry wrote the spot reports). He has some pretty explosive info that needs a voice. Thanks. This is my first time posting - sorry if I messed it up!

Thank you for your support of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. Your generous response has driven our efforts as we spread the truth about John Kerry. Swift Boat Veterans for Truth is making an historic impact on this presidential election. We have joined forces with a group of American prisoners of war who were held captive by the North Vietnamese during the Vietnam War and are now called Swift Vets and POWs for Truth. Together we need your help to tell the story of how John Kerry's activities only served to encourage our enemies and prolong the captivity of our...

I am applying for a job at Blockbuster Video to bring in some extra money while my finanical advisor career takes off. One of the questions they ask you is "Are you a Vietnam Era Veteran?" According to Blockbuster, A Vietnam Era Veteran is defined as: Any person who: 1) Served on active duty for more than 180 days any time between August 5, 1964 and May 7, 1975 that was discharged or released other than dishonorably: or 2) Was discharged or released from active duty for a service-connected disability if any part of such active duty was performed between...

Those who dismiss critics of John Kerry's Vietnam service as just a bunch of right-wing Republicans out to advance George W. Bush's cause don't know what they are talking about -- or they are engaged in wishful thinking. Okay, I may have once thought that about the critics, too. But after poring over the large volume of e-mail I received after my Aug. 28 column, "What Matters About Kerry and Vietnam," I don't any longer.

During the Vietnam War, veteran John Kerry testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing that an investigation, conducted by Kerry and his group, Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW), revealed that American soldiers committed war crimes and atrocities in Vietnam. The investigation was called Winter Soldier. Now that Kerry wants to be President, some of his former colleagues, quite understandably, resent his allegations and his consorting with the North Vietnamese--as he did in Paris. Although this may be a shock to many liberals, American military policy in Vietnam was not to commit war crimes and atrocities. Some try to...
