A day before the U.S. women’s national team opens its World Cup play, the sister of goalie Hope Solo has spoken up and documents reveal new details about a domestic violence incident involving the family last June. On ESPN’s “Outside the Lines,” Mark Fainaru-Wada reports that police records, depositions and an interview with Teresa Obert, Solo’s half-sister and one of the alleged victims in the incident, are at odds with Solo’s comments on what happened on “Good Morning, America,” on Facebook and in a new ESPNW story. Charges against her in Kirkland, Wash., were dismissed last winter, but prosecutors have...

Rio de Janeiro (AFP) - Dozens of demonstrators gathered at Rio de Janeiro's heavily polluted Guanabara Bay, demanding that officials clean it up before it is used as a 2016 Olympic sailing venue. Amid whistles of disapproval and shouts of "shame!" demonstrators held a beachside protest, their boats symbolically kept on the shore as they waved their oars in the air. They launched their protest at noon to coincide with low tide, when the dirtiness of the water is most evident. "Brazilian authorities promised a series of improvements to the bay but just a little more than a year ahead...

Like Any Great Athlete, Triple Crown Hopeful Has His Peculiarities ___ Like a lot of athletes, American Pharoah has his quirks. The brown colt is easy to pick out on the racetrack: he’s the one with the shortest tail. American Pharoah will try to become horse racing’s 12th Triple Crown winner and first since Affirmed in 1978 when he runs in the Belmont Stakes on Saturday. California Chrome failed in his bid last year. Trainer Bob Baffert describes the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner as “a really kind, sweet horse.” That’s an unusual temperament among racehorses, most of which are...

"Last Wednesday, Glory and I agreed to either legally separate, get divorced, or annul our marriage," Griner said in a statement Friday. "I can confirm that today I filed for an annulment. In the week prior to the wedding, I attempted to postpone the wedding several times until I completed counseling, but I still went through with it. I now realize that was a mistake." It also marked the first time the United States has defeated the Netherlands in five meetings (1-4-0). Dutch...

Charles Barkley isn’t a concussion expert by any means, but by virtue of the stick he wields on TNT’s "Inside the NBA," he’s one of the NBA’s leading voices on controversial matters like this. One night after Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry fell on his head during Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, Barkley commented on Curry’s injury and how sports media has covered it before ripping into the NFL over their own struggles to educate, prevent and treat player concussions.

That’s OK.”

Nayah Damasen has just one regret: Not meeting 2-year-old Riley CurryHer touch is still golden. Actually, more like blue and gold. Ten-year-old Nayah Damasen didn't disappoint Thursday night when she sang the national anthem at Oracle Arena in Oakland. Not only did she bring the house down to a sold-out crowd, and millions more on TV, when she paid tribute to the United States with her rocking vibrato. But she also didn't break her lucky streak. Each time she's sang the national anthem for a Warriors game this playoff season, the team has won. The Finals game marked her fourth...
