Memorial Day barbecues may be over, but this town is enjoying a Weiner roast of obscene proportions. On the spit: Rep. Anthony Weiner of New York, perhaps the most pugilistic Democrat in the House, who now finds himself in a fight he does not relish. Over the holiday weekend, a waist-down photograph of an aroused man in boxer briefs was sent from Weiner’s official Twitter account to tens of thousands of followers. Weiner had a plausible explanation: His Twitter account was hacked and he didn’t send the photo. That’s where the plausibility ends. Asked by NBC’s Luke Russert whether the...

Despite progress in reforming past unfair policies and practices, the report said "work remains to meet our goal of ensuring equality before the law for all."

It's heavy To be sure, at 1.5 pounds and with all this functionality, the iPad is an impressive feat of engineering. But it's simply not light enough It's slippery We might ignore the awkward size and weight, but the iPad is also slippery, and its aluminum back is ever-so-slightly slightly concave. The screen has too much glare The iPad has the same...

Young, now helping to rebuild three damaged New Orleans canals between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, said design drawings show that steel pilings reinforcing the levees should have been driven to a depth of 17 feet below sea level. That does not appear to have been the case, based on preliminary findings by an investigative team led by Louisiana State University civil engineering professor Ivor van Heerden. Using sonar, his tests have shown sheet pilings at the canal went to only 10 feet below sea level. Steve Spencer, chief engineer for Orleans Parish levees, said his agency did the...
