NEW YORK, - The U.S. restaurant chain Subway said this week its Footlong brand is the name of a sandwich line, not a guarantee each sandwich is a foot long. The chain said on its Australian Facebook page there is no guarantee each footlong sub would measure 12 inches. "Subway Footlong is a registered trademark as a descriptive name for the sub sold in Subway Restaurants and not intended to be a measurement of length," the statement said. ABC News said a tempest started brewing when an Australian teenager went online to state he had measured a sandwich he had...

The House will vote this week to give its main investigative arm one of the smallest funding increases of any committee — a sign that oversight of a Democratic administration isn’t a leading priority for the Democratic Congress. The Oversight Committee, where Chairman Edolphus Towns (D-N.Y.) has pledged to bird-dog the $700 billion Wall Street bailout and the $787 billion economic stimulus plan, is getting a 3 percent increase, the second-smallest boost of any committee. Overall this year, committees got a 9 percent increase, with the Small Business Committee getting the largest percentage increase, 21 percent. Oversight remains the second-highest-funded...

SACRAMENTO – From Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders, politicians at all levels are complaining about a transportation commission staff proposal to allocate the first highway funds from a record $19.9 billion transportation bond approved by voters in November. As a result, the California Transportation Commission may make major changes in the staff recommendation before making a decision next Wednesday to allocate $4.5 billion in bond funds designated for highways to improve “corridor mobility.” The harshest criticism came from Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez, D-Los Angeles, who said the staff plan would give Los Angeles County only 12...

PHILADELPHIA -- A man pleaded guilty to weapons of mass destruction charges for sending a mail bomb to a Chicago surgeon he said botched his penile enlargement surgery, though his attorney questioned whether the charges fit the offense. Brett R. Steidler, 25, of Reamstown, Pa., mailed the explosive device in February 2005 because he was "extremely unhappy with the results" of the $8,000 surgery, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams said in court filings. Reamstown is in Lancaster County. But Steidler alerted authorities before the bomb arrived and it was retrieved from the mail and disarmed. His attorney, Luis A....

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A New Jersey man has filed a false advertising lawsuit against a maker of herbal penis enlargement pills, alleging the medicine does not fulfill its promises, the plaintiff's lawyer said on Monday. Two similar cases, filed last year in Colorado and Ohio, accuse manufacturers of herbal dietary supplements, VigRx and Enzyte, of falsely claiming to be able to add substantial length and girth to a man's penis. All three suits seek class action status and claim to represent more than 1 million total plaintiffs. In the latest case, filed on Jan. 21 in New Jersey state...

  • James Carville Reveals SMALL Private Parts (NOT From "The Onion")

James Carville must not think much of the right to privacy so vaunted in recent days by liberals. On Friday's Crossfire on CNN, he shared how he's poorly endowed. MRC analyst Ken Shepherd caught how during a June 27 segment on the new full body scanners that the TSA wants to use at airports, which leave little to the imagination, the liberal co- host of Crossfire quipped: "That thing would have to be very sensitive to pick up any of my privates, let me tell you, it would take about an electron microscope for that thing to show up." No...
