Three puppies are now recovering from the cold after being rescued off a Utah mountaintop by a few snowmobilers. Holt and Kat Perry, the snowmobilers who rescued the puppies, say it was “just dumb luck” when they found the freezing puppies who were living out of a sheep’s carcass, KSTU reported. The couple was snowmobiling on a Weber County mountaintop when they discovered the puppies and a mother dog five miles away from the nearest road on Saturday. “I’m not going to leave any animal on the mountain to starve, especially, it was obvious she had pups,” Kat Perry said....

Attempts to save some of the 14,000 sheep trapped in a half-sunken boat in the Romanian port of Midia have been resumed, say activists at the scene, after sounds emerged from the ship indicating that some were still alive. Campaigners are calling again for a ban on live exports from Europe to non-EU countries, after the Queen Hind capsized on Sunday, shortly after sailing out of port. Conflicting reports of the ship’s destination mean that at one point it was believed to have been headed to Libya, but the authorities have now confirmed that it was intended for Saudi Arabia.

Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Police in Chicago said a loose sheep was tranquilized Monday on the South Side after evading capture for several hours. The Chicago Police Department said Chicago Animal Care and Control was called to the McKinley Park neighborhood to chase down a sheep first spotted about 9:35 a.m. Monday. An American man was killed on an island inhabited by a tribe known to resist outside contact in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. And, his body still lies there.
