Attempts to save some of the 14,000 sheep trapped in a half-sunken boat in the Romanian port of Midia have been resumed, say activists at the scene, after sounds emerged from the ship indicating that some were still alive.
Campaigners are calling again for a ban on live exports from Europe to non-EU countries, after the Queen Hind capsized on Sunday, shortly after sailing out of port. Conflicting reports of the ships destination mean that at one point it was believed to have been headed to Libya, but the authorities have now confirmed that it was intended for Saudi Arabia.

So people want to ban the export of live animals to non-EU countries but it’s just dandy to import people from non-EU countries.
Sheep probably all rushed to one side of the ship.
intended for Saudi Arabia.
14,000 Saudi men will be disappointed if the new “wives” perish.

Maybe they are doing the Baa-ckstroke.
Humane animal rights folk have to save them for the slaughter.
Orwell’s Animal Farm takeover?
I hope the sheep seller got paid.
Buttigieg dropped out?
14,000 sheep lost? Big deal.
Pope Francis is losing them by the millions!
I’m guessing there’s quite a few muslims in Saudi Arabia that will have to rub one out now that their girlfriends aren’t going to show up.
Let’s face it, eventually all those dead sheep will probably be dumped into the deep water anyway. A sad existence for those still alive, though.
There would still be uses for the by products, the tallow and the lanolin, but who’s going to pay for all the dredging, cleaning and the prepping before the carcass can be harvested? Not many, I would suppose.
More likely for cruel sacrifice & muzzie(SPIT!) BBQ.
Prior to the accident, the ship was full of muzzie seamen.
You are right, betting they did not have sufficient corrals installed because they didn’t know squat about transporting sheep. Somebody just got screwed big time, I hope it wasn’t the farmers.
And why is the camel known as “the ship of the desert”?
