"Truthers" are the people who believe the 9/11 terror attacks were an inside job. That the Bush administration had advance knowledge of them and let them occur. In the more extreme version of an already extremist theory, truthers believe the U.S. government itself carried out the attacks as an excuse to take the nation to war. At the very least the truthers question the official version of events and want the government to reopen the investigation. In a way, they have a lot in common with those who to this day refuse to believe that Lee Harvey Oswald fired the...

"Truther" actor Charlie Sheen says President Obama needs to investigate fully the actions and conspiracies he believes resulted in the 9/11 attack on the United States. Sheen, in a fictionalized "interview" with Obama on the PrisonPlanet website, notes that while the conversation did not take place, "This is an open letter to the president requesting a new investigation." Sheen and others contend the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks that killed almost 3,000 people could have been arranged by officials high in the U.S. government to provide a pretext for war. If they did not actually arrange them, government officials at...

It is amazing now to think back on the fact that Fulton J. Sheen, a Catholic archbishop, had a weekly TV show that was vastly popular in the 50s and 60s, in which he defended the Catholic faith. We used to watch it every week when my grandma could convince my uncle to give up watching equally popular comedian Milton Berle on another channel. According to Wikipedia, when Sheen won an Emmy, Berle quipped, 'He's got better writers.'" I came upon Sheen's book Three to Get Married on Amazon just now when I was browsing in reaction to the...

Communism glorifies work as the new god to which cult and worship must be paid.Just as democracies since the French revolution have substituted freedom for god and made it the supreme goal to be served,so now communism has made labor the deity which men must adore. Freedom is not the goal of democracy,if freedom is understood as freedom from something.Freedom from something must necessarily be freedom for something.Freedom without law is a license and unlimited freedom eventually ends up in unlimited tyranny. Neither is the work of god,for thieves work and so do beavers,so do gods of soviet concentration camps.There...

Archbishop Fulton Sheen Peoria, Ill., Apr 24, 2009 / 03:46 am (CNA).- The famous Catholic evangelist Archbishop Fulton Sheen's reputation for holiness and his impact on Catholics and non-Catholics alike has led to his cause for beatification being opened. Bill Engelbrecht, a member of the Archbishop Sheen Foundation’s board of directors, told CNA recently that the cause is progressing “quite well.”The foundation, Engelbrecht explained, is kept informed of the beatification cause’s progress in Rome, and it is “on track.” “The process is lengthy and it is undetermined. It can take from a few years to a few hundred years. It’s...

A cheerful wave of the deacon's stole to Doc Mac, who reminds us that today marks a little milestone in broadcast history, when Fulton Sheen made his TV debut. The good doctor quotes one writer who described the archbishop's appeal thusly: He was elegant, elevated, relaxed, often very funny. Only Jack Benny could top Sheen’s ability to back a punch line—gazing calmly at the camera the entire time. The shows had a precise formula. Sheen, wearing his bishop’s cross, crimson cape and skullcap, would stride into a parlorlike studio, pause, tell a funny story, and then pose the problem...

Address Delivered on April 4, 1943 Today we shall speak about a grave danger facing the world— not America alone. That danger is the threatened loss of something which is on the tongue of everyone, namely, freedom. A proof that we are in danger of losing it, is that everyone is talking about it. If you suddenly came into a country where everyone was talking about the health of the lungs, you would immediately conclude that a disastrous microbe was rampant. In the last war everyone spoke about "making the world safe for democracy," and yet the world became so...

The Hour That Makes My Day | Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen A selection from A Treasure in Clay, the autobiography of Archbishop Sheen. On the day of my Ordination, I made two resolutions: 1. I would offer the Holy Eucharist every Saturday in honor of the Blessed Mother to solicit her protection on my priesthood. The Epistle to the Hebrews bids the priest offer sacrifices not only for others, but also for himself, since his sins are greater because of the dignity of the office. 2. I resolved also to spend a continuous Holy Hour every day in the...

The history you are about to read is a miraculous event authenticated and recorded at the Vatican over 400 years ago. Sacred archives recall the miracle with the title, 'The Battle of Lepanto." Firstly, its historical background must be told. The Ottoman Empire was a Turkish state in the Middle East from the 14th to 20th centuries. As their 'Jihads' or aggressions increased, it became one of the world's most powerful entities during the 16th century. The Empire then became commonly known as the 'Khalifah,' or 'Islamic State.'On May 29, 1453, the Islamic State conquered the holy Christian lands of...

I found the following quote at the Catholic Mom of 10 website. Very prophetic words from our wonderful, saintly Archbishop: "The world is rapidly being divided into two camps, the comradeship of anti-Christ and the brotherhood of Christ. The lines between these two are being drawn. How long the battle will be we know not; whether swords will have to be unsheathed we know not; whether blood will have to be shed we know not; whether it will be an armed conflict we know not. But in a conflict between truth and darkness, truth cannot lose." Archbishop Fulton Sheen

Every teacher knows that it is easier to win a mind with a mistaken interest than one that has no interest at all. The greatest of the Apostles, Paul, came to the Lord through the flames of hate, and the reason of his hate remained the reason of his love - a vivid recognition of all the Person of Christ stood for in relation to humanity. The sensuous passion of Magdalen finally swept in the opposite directions and became the supreme dedication of her love. But what is extremely difficult for the blessings of heaven to work upon is indifference...

The prostitute who brought down New York governor Eliot Spitzer once dressed as a cheerleader for a romp with Charlie Sheen, says her old pimp. Ashley Dupre was 19 when she took part in £10,000-a-night threesomes with the Platoon actor. Pimp Jason Itzler, 41, said: "Sheen got the girls to dress up as cheerleaders and chant his name while performing sex acts. They loved Charlie. "Ashley was a real workaholic. I wasn't amazed to hear she was doodling Spitzer. Advertisement "Boy that guy was a hypocrite. A self-righteous white knight enjoying his own dark nights." Ashley, 22, joined escort agency...
