A San Francisco police officer who allegedly texted anti-Muslim messages to other officers was fired last month by the San Francisco Police Commission at the recommendation of Chief William Scott, the San Francisco Examiner has learned. The City of San Francisco sought an injunction Wednesday against President Donald Trump’s executive order to block federal grants to “sanctuary cities,” complaining the move could be devastating to the city’s bottom line. Last November, a nonprofit called Transparent California reported that a BART janitor named Liang Zhao Zhang made $271,000 in a single year — over $162,000 of that in the form of overtime.
