Jerry Sandusky's sex abuse scandal is costing the Penn State almost a quarter million dollars almost half a decade after the former assistant coach was arrested for child molestation. The Associated Press reports the college has reached $237million, including a recent $12 million verdict in the whistleblower and defamation case brought by former assistant coach Mike McQueary. The university has also settled with 33 people who alleged they were sexually abused by Sandusky. Penn State paid out $93 million in damages.

A couple of weeks ago we got the first hint of what was going on in these locales from Axiom Strategies. Even as his national numbers were sinking, Trump was holding on pretty well in those counties. Now they’ve gone even deeper into this particular geographic analysis, and as Politico Reports, Hillary Clinton has a fight on her hands that she’s currently losing. Axiom identified seven counties in seven battleground states that have proved to be bellwethers in the past four elections. Trump, so far, has an edge in four of them, Hillary Clinton has an edge in two, and...
  • Joe Paterno Was Told Of Child Abuse By Jerry Sandusky In 1976 Per Report

Joe Paterno was told as early as 1976 that former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky had sexually molested young boys according to a new report. A child apparently reported to Paterno that he was sexually abused by Sandusky in 1976. This came to light via a court order during a related insurance coverage case involving Penn State. The line in the court order says the following: “in 1976, a child allegedly reported to PSU’s Head Coach Joseph Paterno that he (the child) was sexually molested by Sandusky.” The court order also cites references to incidents in 1987 and 1988 in which...

The late Penn State University football coach Joe Paterno knew about sexual abuse allegations against former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky as early as 1976, according to an assertion in a Philadelphia court order made public Thursday. The claim emerged in a dispute over who should pay Penn State's share of about $60 million in settlements with 26 men who say Sandusky abused them when they were children — the university or its insurance company. Previously, the abuse was widely thought to have occurred from 1994 through 2008, when Sandusky ran a youth charity called Second Mile. But in the new...

This week, Bill Cosby was charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault. The felony charges stemmed from an incident more than a decade ago, in which Andrea Constand says Mr. Cosby drugged and assaulted her in his home. Mr. Cosby says he intends to fight the charges, and no court has found him liable for sexual misconduct. The timing of the criminal charges was not arbitrary. The date of the alleged assault was Jan. 15, 2004, and Pennsylvania’s statute of limitations for rape and sexual assault is 12 years: If prosecutors had delayed two and a half weeks, the...

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) -- The state must restore the $4,900-a-month pension of former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky that was taken away three years ago when he was sentenced to decades in prison on child molestation convictions, a court ordered Friday. A Commonwealth Court panel ruled unanimously that the State Employees' Retirement Board wrongly concluded Sandusky was a Penn State employee when he committed the crimes that were the basis for the pension forfeiture. "The board conflated the requirements that Mr. Sandusky engage in `work relating to' PSU and that he engage in that work `for' PSU," wrote...

It looks like former Penn State President Graham B. Spanier won't be going to Saudi Arabia this fall after all. Commonwealth Court denied Spanier's request to travel there to meet with higher education officials, noting the lack of an extradition treaty with Saudi Arabia that would make it impossible to force him back. Spanier, who is awaiting trial on perjury and conspiracy charges connected to the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal, has been barred from leaving the country without approval of the court and the attorney general since August 2013.

Former Pittsburgh school police officer Robert Lellock has been arrested and charged with raping 22 male students he was hired to protect. According to the Tribune-Review, Robert Lellock worked for the Pittsburgh public school system as a school police officer where he repeatedly sexually abused at least 22 boys. One victim claims that Lellock removed him from class at least two dozen times to rape him in a janitor’s closet....

The story seems like it’s been told forever at Penn State University. Long-tenured coach builds up a sports program that becomes so successful its players bask in national prominence year after year. The coach gains so much respect he receives status as an honorary alumnus, gets a flavor named for him at Penn State’s famed Berkey Creamery and earns a spot on the “Inspiration” mural just off the State College campus. Naturally, we’re talking about the school’s vaunted football program, right? Not this time. Russ Rose and his women’s volleyball team at Penn State recently took the floor inside Oklahoma...

Due to Penn State University’s significant progress toward ensuring its athletics department functions with integrity, the NCAA Executive Committee on Monday eliminated the school’s postseason ban, effective immediately, and will return the full complement of football scholarships in 2015-16. The committee’s action endorses recommendations released Monday by George Mitchell, the university’s athletics oversight monitor, in his latest report. In addition to the scholarship and postseason participation changes, Mitchell also recommended that if Penn State continues to make impressive progress at the conclusion of the 2015 report, Mitchell’s oversight may conclude substantially earlier than 2017, the date set forth in the...

HARRISBURG - Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane's review of the investigation into pedophile Jerry Sandusky was supposed to finally explain why the case took nearly three years to build, and whether it was bogged down by politics. Instead, the 166-page report she released Monday was overshadowed by Kane's own assertion - not included in the document - that two victims alleged they were sexually abused by Sandusky even while he was under investigation.
