Port Clinton, Ohio, Police Chief Robert Hickman was seen in photos wearing a Confederate flag vest while on vacation in South Dakota.

An Ohio police chief isn’t really addressing the controversy that has unfolded since he was seen in photos wearing a Confederate flag vest while vacationing in South Dakota, WKYC reports.

Port Clinton Police Chief Robert Hickman said that he doesn’t “look at the Confederate flag as a racist symbol,” with some residents defending him, saying he doesn’t have a “racist bone” in his body.

“I think he was just wearing a shirt,” Port Clinton resident Bryan Meek told the news station. “Out having a good time one day, and that is basically it.”

“I have known Rob since before kindergarten, basically my whole life,” he added. “And I could tell you, that there is not a racist bone in his body.”

However, some aren’t very impressed. Sandusky, Ohio, NAACP President Jim Jackson told the Sandusky Register that the attire was inappropriate in light of the controversy surrounding the flag, particularly since the Charleston, S.C., church shooting.nued.

What about him going to Sturgis? Isn’t that event the capital of lawlessness?

This country owes as much of its enviable martial heritage to the South as the North. But now to serve popular morality, we must banish from history the Confederate battle flag and those who served under it. Responding to these assertions, I quote Joshua Chamberlain who received the Confederate surrender at Appomattox.

“Before us in proud humiliation stood the embodiment of manhood: men whom neither toils and sufferings, nor the fact of death, nor disaster, nor hopelessness could bend from their resolve; standing before us now, thin, worn, and famished, but erect, and with eyes looking level into ours, waking memories that bound us together as no other bond;—was not such manhood to be welcomed back into a Union so tested and assured?”

Winston Churchill commented concerning American entry into WW II that victory was then assured, because our Civil War demonstrated the tenacity required to defeat the Nazis.

Not just that, but he appears to be sitting down while wearing a hat, indoors! Scandalous.

Does he want to be fired or sued for discrimination by a black employee he fired...one of the two will happen.

Someone educate Mr. Jackson. This ‘controversy’ is made up by the globalists who thrive on discord between black and white; man and woman.

It’s a subterfuge, and JJ is falling for it hook, line, and sinker.

He doesn’t need an apology - he needs to be better informed.

We have a Battle Flag of Virginia flying on the flagpole in front of our house not because we’re racist but because we can.

We never cared about it until we were told we weren’t supposed to have one. Now it represents freedom and ‘sticking it to The (liberal) Man’.

Bring up the Articles of Confederation to a ‘Progressive’ and you just get a dumb look. For that matter, they don’t even consider the Constitution relevant.

No, the Union.

As to the flag, you can believe it means rebellion against Federal government all you want, but it has been the flag of the racist bigoted socialist DemoRATS for most of its history since 1861.

Good grief. He’s on vacation in the Dakota’s. I doubt seriously if any employer, public or private, has the right to tell anyone what they can wear when they are on vacation.

If I saw someone wearing that shirt, I wouldn’t think of a Confederate Flag. it just looks like two decorative patterns on a shirt.

Now, if there was just one pattern, I may think differently.
Maybe we should contact the shirt designer for insight.

This is all very stupid.
A flag should remain a flag and not be disrespected and made into clothing. A flag patch is fine.

In light of the Virginia TV shooting by a Gay, black Obama supporter, let’s ban the ‘fag’ flag, NAACP and Obama stickers!

For decades I’ve never thought of that flag as racist, or even particularly southern (although I know it is southern). There were times when I flew from where we lived in So. California to Buffalo where I grew up, and I’d see the Confederate Flag on cars as we drove out of the airport. I felt so GOOD. It felt like freedom, especially after leaving LAX eight hours earlier.
