Joe Paterno Knew of Sandusky Abuse Allegations as Early as 1976, Insurance Company Claims

The late Penn State University football coach Joe Paterno knew about sexual abuse allegations against former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky as early as 1976, according to an assertion in a Philadelphia court order made public Thursday.

The claim emerged in a dispute over who should pay Penn State's share of about $60 million in settlements with 26 men who say Sandusky abused them when they were children — the university or its insurance company.

Previously, the abuse was widely thought to have occurred from 1994 through 2008, when Sandusky ran a youth charity called Second Mile.

But in the new order, dated Wednesday, Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Gary S. Glazer wrote in passing that the insurance company, Pennsylvania Manufacturers' Association Insurance, had claimed that "in 1976, a child allegedly reported to PSU's Head Coach Joseph Paterno that he (the child) was sexually molested by Sandusky."

According to the order, the insurance company further claims that in 1987 and 1988, other assistant coaches witnessed "inappropriate" or "sexual" conduct between Sandusky and children, and that in 1988, a similar allegation was referred to Penn State's athletic director.

The order was first reported by the Patriot-News of Harrisburg...

Male queers have been getting away with this forever. Some people call them gay, I call them same sex rapists, child abusers, and coprophiles.

Could be true, but it is just as likely that the insurance company is trying to weasel out of paying by claiming that Penn State withheld adverse information.

Hard to believe someone would put the football program above the well being of a kid. Very sad.

This is the big untold story of the great “who uses what bathroom” controversy. The greatest problem that never gets addressed is gay men using men’s bathrooms and locker rooms for hook ups, voyeurism, and all forms of abuse. This has been going on forever.

Fact: Paterno covered it up.

So 40 years ago a kid was molested, never told anyone except Joe Paterno (how’d he get in touch with him as a kid, anyway?).... Then never followed up on it, didn’t tell police neither back then nor when it was known that Sandusky was being investigated by a grand jury.... But now, 4+ years after Paterno is dead, while you’re trying to not pay millions to victims of Jerry Sandusky, here comes a story that conveniently would get you out of covering Penn State’s payments?

I totally believe you, insurance company.

I remember William Peter Blatty author of the “Exorcist”
saying in an EWTN interview with Raymond Arroyo that Sandusky was providing young men and boys to big Penn State donors.

No, unfortunately it is not hard to believe.

I call them turd-burgling poo flingers.

Apparently the entire town knew about Sandusky’s rape of boys. It was common knowledge.

The local iice cream shop had a dish called the Sandusky that depicted a penis penetrating buttocks, made out of ice cream.

Who did he think he was? A Catholic Archbishop?

Indeed. The statement was “claims”. If there is rock-solid evidence, by all means we should believe it. But right now it does mostly sound like he-said she-said. Still, it also is suspicious when several stories pop up.

I asked this on another thread last night and nobody commented: Isn’t there still a missing DA and his hard drive, or am I mixing up my conspiracy theories?

Predators like Sandusky are always on the prowl. I assumed he most definitely had victims going back way before 1994. Read up on the Boston Archdiocese if you need a template.

Many victims want to forget and don’t want to bring back the pain no matter what kind of lawsuit money is on the table. Unfortunately I think there was a time in history when child molesting wasn’t thought of as a serious crime.

Seems pretty simple, the insurance company is lying to cover it's a$$.

Ray Gricar is still missing, his hard drive was found but it produced no usable material. BTW, Gricar disappeared once before x 4 days. He turned up in Cleveland and never explained why he vanished. I also believe there is a history of suicide in his family.

A simple question that a responsible media should ask: since there is no corroboration, how does a kid not old enough to drive gain an audience with Paterno?

Or Penn State and the Paterno’s were lying to cover their ass. It seems pretty simple to me that Sandusky would have victims going back decades.
