ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- A former high-level aide to Sen. Barbara Boxer has been sentenced to five years in prison on child pornography charges. Jeff P. Rosato, 32, of Arlington, was sentenced Friday in a hearing before U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III. He received the minimum sentence allowed under federal guidelines and will have to register as a sex offender.

A senior aide to Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) was fired from his post last week after he was charged with distributing and receiving child pornography. Jeffrey P. Rosato, an aide to Boxer and a senior policy adviser on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, was arrested last Friday, the same day he was fired from Boxer's office, and charged with one count each of receipt and distribution of child pornography.

A high-level aide to California Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer has been charged in federal court with receiving and distributing child pornography. The aide, Jeff Rosato, 32, was arrested last Friday. Boxer's office fired him that same day, as soon as it learned about the charges. Rosato appeared in federal court in Virginia on Wednesday and was released to home detention on condition he not interact with children or use a computer. He was not required to post any bail or bond money but was being told to undergo medical treatment.
