President Richard Nixon’s son-in-law said Monday that House Democrats are being driven by the “AOC effect," arguing that Speaker Nancy Pelosi faced significant pressure from far-left members to pursue impeachment. “Most of her conference is in majority Democratic districts and they are all scared of a primary and that’s what’s driving them in large part,” Ed Cox told “Fox & Friends." Cox said that despite Pelosi’s initial decision to pull back the impeachment push, the lawmaker chose to maintain her position in leadership by going along with House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff’s, D-Calif., impeachment inquiry.

By most everyone’s judgment, the Senate will not vote to remove President Donald Trump from office if the House impeaches him. But what if senators could vote on impeachment by secret ballot? If they didn’t have to face backlash from constituents or the media or the president himself, who knows how many Republican senators would vote to remove? A secret impeachment ballot might sound crazy, but it’s actually quite possible. In fact, it would take only three senators to allow for that possibility.

A group of Representatives led by Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) and Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) recently introduced the Farm Workforce Modernization Act (FWMA). This bill will amnesty over 1.5 million illegal alien farmworkers, expand the H-2A program, add 40,000 green cards to the EB-3 category, and mandate E-Verify across the agriculture sector. Despite its flashy name, this bill does nothing to modernize the agricultural workforce. Instead of encouraging the adoption of time- and cost-saving technology, this bill proposes amnestying millions of alien farmworkers and giving them a path to citizenship. It is a massive amnesty, plain and simple. Farmworker Amnesty The bill...

As of Friday afternoon, 50 of the Senate’s 53 Republicans had signed on to co-sponsor it. The three holdouts were exactly whom you’d expect: Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Mitt Romney. But their delay in joining the effort didn’t necessarily mean they’d ultimately refuse. Recall that the three retiring GOP members of the caucus, Lamar Alexander, Mike Enzi, and Johnny Isakson, also took longer than the rest to declare their support for the resolution. But in the end, all three did.Not Collins and Murkowski, though. They’re now on record: Count them out. Presumably the same goes for Mitt. Granted,...

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said on Friday that all but three GOP senators had signed onto his resolution condemning the House impeachment inquiry. GOP Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Mitt Romney (Utah) have not yet signed onto the resolution, according to an updated list of co-sponsors shared by Graham the day after he introduced the measure. A spokesperson for Collins didn't immediately respond to a request for comment about whether or not she would back the resolution, which formally opposes the impeachment inquiry and urges House Democrats to hold an official vote on it. A spokeswoman for...

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is spearheading the resolution, which is backed by 44 GOP senators including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). Graham, during a press conference with reporters, lashed out the House impeachment inquiry calling it a "secret proceeding" and a "rogue action" that "denies due process." "The process in the House today I think is a danger to the future of the presidency," Graham told reporters. He argued that under the current procedure Trump was "pretty much shut out," adding "God help future presidents." The GOP senators not cosponsoring the resolution as of Thursday afternoon,...

President Trump's three Republican primary challengers will debate on Saturday in Nashville, Tenn., organizers announced. The debate and conversation with former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford (R), former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) and former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld (R) will take place at 11 a.m. at the Politicon political convention, officials said. "Join Gov. Bill Weld, Gov. Mark Sanford, and Rep. Joe Walsh as they discuss 2020 and the future of the republic. Is President Trump listening?" organizers asked on the convention website. It was not immediately clear whether Trump was invited to the debate. Allies of the president including...

Independent Michigan Rep. Justin Amash speculated Tuesday that some retiring Republican lawmakers may seek office again once President Trump leaves office. Amash, theorizing that numerous White House officials who have defended President Trump’s call to Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky told CNN’s Erin Burnett they “feel trapped in that position.” “I hear that from my colleagues on the House floor” he added. “They wish they weren’t doing this, and frankly I think a lot of the retirements that we hear about as well are just trying to ride out this president and they might think of coming back into public office...

The newly rebellious senator has become an outspoken dissident in Trump’s Republican Party, just in time for the president’s impeachment trial..... Mitt Romney is leaning forward in his chair, his eyes flashing, his voice sharp. It’s a strange look for the 72-year-old senator, who typically affects a measured, somber tone when discussing Donald Trump’s various moral deficiencies. But after weeks of escalating combat with the president—over Ukraine, and China, and Syria, and impeachment—the gentleman from Utah suddenly appears ready to unload.

Former Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) told CNN Friday that President Trump should be impeached after acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said the Trump administration had frozen military aid as leverage to get Ukraine to investigate a conspiracy theory about a DNC server. "To me, it's totally inappropriate. It's an abuse of power. Now I know that there are presidents that will withhold aid because they have policy differences, but this is not a policy difference. So my view is that — look, I fought with people on the air about 'Is there a quid pro quo?' and 'Does...

The Senate never pushed back on Obama’s declared emergencies. But TEN RINOs today voted to prevent funds be diverted to the Trump Border Wall. Lisa Murkowski, Rand Paul, Rob Portman, Mitt Romney, Marco Rubio, Pat Toomey and Roger Wicker. The Senate again voted on Wednesday to end President Trump’s emergency declaration on the U.S.-Mexico border wall, paving the way for a veto showdown with the White House. Senators voted 54–41 on a resolution to end the declaration, which Trump used to shift billions of dollars from the military toward wall construction. Under the National Emergencies Act, a resolution ending the...

I am lately struck by the similarities between the machinations that removed Nixon and what is going on now. We are all so indoctrinated about "Watergate" that we rarely remark on the oddity of a man who won 60% of the popular vote and >500 electoral votes being successfully subverted and eventually forced out by an alliance of the Deep State (CIA, FBI), the media, and especially the Congress. But it IS very odd that it happened, whatever we all may think now, we may all be missing the main story, and since the very same players (CIA, FBI), media,...

On September 11th, at the beginning of the Senate's reconvening after their summer break, the Senate confirmed six judges that were supposed to be confirmed in June. There have been none since. Granted the Senate has been busy confirming other officials, but can still schedule votes on judges. We're watching, Mitch. Get your slow ass moving! I usually post on judges weekly, but will switch to daily to put the pressure on.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Monday that if the House impeaches President Trump he will “have no choice” but to hold a trial in the Senate and a vote on removing the president from office. His comments in an interview with CNBC confirm the position he took in an interview with NPR in March, and the conclusion of a Senate staff memo that was obtained by HuffPost. “Under the Senate rules we’re required to take it up if the House does go down that path, and we’ll follow the Senate rules,” McConnell said Monday. “It’s a Senate rule related...

One of the greatest public services President Donald Trump has done for the nation is forcing institutions and people to reveal their true character. While this has been the most valuable when it comes to the media, it has also been valuable when it comes to unmasking globalist Republicans. This was again on display this week, most notably in the revelation that Paul Ryan was inciting Fox News from his position on the board of Fox Corporation to "decisively break" with President Trump. Ryan has apparently graduated from providing the worst advice to the president as the speaker of the...

On her MSNBC show, Friday, Nicolle Wallace, after boasting, "I've spent my career studying public opinion," said that independent/swing voters will be "a whole lot more likely" to believe what Nancy Pelosi says about impeachment when they hear Mitt Romney saying the same thing.

The Governor of Vermont is the first Republican chief executive to publicly come out in favor of an impeachment inquiry against President Trump. Governor Phil Scott said at a press conference Thursday that he isn’t surprised about the allegations against the president because he has “watched him over the years.”Scott is a frequent critic of Trump so maybe it should be said that this stance by Vermont’s governor isn’t surprising, either. He can have the satisfaction, I guess, that he’s the first Republican governor to publicly support the Democrats’ impeachment agenda. When pressed by reporters, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine...

Another potential scandal has cast a pall over Trump’s presidency, and as has become a learned behavior in the Republican Party, the vast majority of GOP officials are declining to speak out against him. But their non-responses also speak volumes. After a whistleblower complaint released Thursday alleged President Trump’s misdeeds with regard to Ukraine, reporters set about getting reaction from Republican elected officials. They ran into a stone wall. As CNN’s Ted Barrett summarizes, many Republican senators claimed they hadn’t even read the relatively brief document, despite it having consumed the political world. But even those who said they had...

Differences over President Trump reverberated during a weekend reunion bash for White House alumni of George W. Bush, exposing rifts in the network of Republican operatives and officials. Matt Schlapp, a lobbyist and enthusiastic Trump supporter who served as political director in the Bush White House, had to be convinced to attend the reunion by a fellow "Bushie," often a term of scorn in the Trump White House, after he expressed fears of being confronted. Another Bush administration veteran, sometimes critical of Trump and sometimes not, was accosted at the gathering by a former colleague and accused of being too...
