Here is the latest news on little Allie Rose. Allie is 4 years old and still in Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). In January Allie became very sick and her illness was a puzzle to medical people. She slipped into a coma and was in that state for about 6 weeks. In a stunning example of the power of prayers, Allie woke and was able to appropriately smile. She is expected to be in CHOP for at least another several months. At this point Allie is out of ICU and breathing on her own but still having important difficulties. During...

“Love to Receive, Love to Give” (John 13:1-17, 31b-35) “Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.” Yes, Jesus did that. And he also tells his disciples: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” And so our message tonight is all about love: The love with which Jesus loved us, and then the love he would have us give to one another. “Love to Receive, Love to Give.” First of all, love to receive. This...

The Second Great American Eclipse By Laramie Hirsch “The LORD said to Moses, ‘If they do not believe you and are not convinced by the first miraculous sign, they will be convinced by the second sign’.” -Exodus 4:8 “All the world’s a stage.” -William Shakespeare There has been a large amount of discussion in regards to the upcoming 2024 eclipse over the United States. A lot of the conversation revolves around Providential, prophetic themes of omens and eschatology. It therefore probably behooves us to have an exhaustive, comprehensive overview of the facts and implications for all who are interested in...

HOW MANY AMERICANS, with the help of God in sincere humble prayer, truly live all of the Ten Commandments according to God (Ex 20:2-17; Deut 5:6-21; CCC 1858-2557), not according to the world or according to their own subjective interpretation? In normal circumstances, the Oscars could be filed under “things I don’t watch.” However, something occurred during the recent awards ceremony that should be addressed—in particular, the following statement by Jonathan Glazer, director of the Holocaust film “The Zone of Interest,” which won the Academy Award for best international film : “We stand here as men who refute their Jewishness and the Holocaust being hijacked by an occupation which has led to conflict for so many innocent people. Whether the victims of October the 7th in Israel or the ongoing attack on Gaza—all the victims of this dehumanization.” This statement...
  • "Reserved for a King" (Sermon for Palm Sunday, on Mark 11:1-10)

“Reserved for a King” (Mark 11:1-10) Our story today starts out with “a colt tied.” As our text says, “You will find a colt tied.” But no, I’m not talking about finding Peyton Manning tied with Brett Favre at 186 regular-season wins. This is not about an Indianapolis Colt. This is about a different colt, in a different town, tied in a different way. The colt I’m talking about is the one that Jesus uses to ride into Jerusalem on. Jesus sends two of his disciples ahead to get it: “Go into the village in front of you, and immediately...
  • "The Passion of Our Lord: 'Eloi, Eloi, Lema Sabachthani?'" (Lenten sermon on Mark 15:33-47)

“The Passion of Our Lord: ‘Eloi, Eloi, Lema Sabachthani?’” (Mark 15:33-47) “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” So cries Jesus from the cross, as found in Matthew and Mark, where it is the only word from the cross that is recorded. “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” What is so striking about this is that it is spoken, and recorded for us, in another language. That language is Aramaic, which is sort of a cousin to Hebrew. Aramaic was the everyday language that Jewish people like Jesus spoke at that time. And we find several places in the gospels where Jesus’ words in Aramaic...
  • "Not to Be Served But to Serve" (Sermon for the Fifth Sunday in Lent, on Mark 10:32-45)

“Not to Be Served But to Serve” (Mark 10:32-45) Let me start out our message today with a question. Here it is. Which of these two statements is true: a) “A Christian is a perfectly free lord of all, subject to none,” or b) “A Christian is a perfectly dutiful servant of all, subject to all.” Which one is true? Actually, the correct answer is c) “both of the above.” A Christian is both a perfectly free lord of all and a perfectly dutiful servant of all. It was Martin Luther who set forth these two seemingly contradictory propositions in...

The American edition, published in 1956, 468 pages, Translated by A.P. Maudsley The Diaz account is the best history book that I have read. It has all the advantage of a first person account and reads like a well written adventure novel. The Discovery and Conquest of Mexico by Bernal Diaz del Castillo is the only extant first person account of the campaign under the command of Hernando Cortez from 1519 to 1520. The campaign resulted in the discovery and conquest of the Aztec civilization in Mexico. Cortez himself wrote five long letters to Carlos V in Spain. Parts...
  • India Accelerates Citizenship for Persecuted Minorities From Three Islamic Nations with CAA, Muslims and Leftist Media Launch Vicious Attack

Despite relentless attacks from left-wing media and threats of violent jihad from Muslims, Modi has remained steadfast in his pursuit to protect minorities facing persecution in Islamic nations. Through groundbreaking CAA legislation, he offers sanctuary to victims of Islamic persecution, contrasting sharply with Western countries that extend entry to those persecuting non-Muslim minorities. On Monday, March 11, the Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, took a significant step in addressing religious persecution by officially implementing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). This piece of legislation, passed in December 2019, aims to provide a haven for minorities such as Hindus,...

“The Passion of Our Lord: Suffered under Pontius Pilate” (Mark 15:1-32) Tonight we continue our series on “The Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ according to St. Mark.” During this series, we’re going through Mark chapters 14 and 15 piece by piece. Now we come to chapter 15. It’s Good Friday, when Jesus is handed over to the Roman governor to suffer and die. And so our theme tonight: “The Passion of Our Lord: Suffered under Pontius Pilate.” To set the scene: Jesus was betrayed and arrested the night before, was tried by the Jewish Sanhedrin, and found guilty of...

“The Passion of Our Lord: Truth on Trial” (Mark 14:53-72) It’s Thursday night, late. Overnight, really. Heading into Friday. And truth is on trial. Jesus is on trial. So is the Sanhedrin that is trying him. So is Peter, his disciple. And so are we, frankly. Who will pass the test? Let’s find out. And so our theme tonight: “The Passion of Our Lord: Truth on Trial.” Jesus is on trial. He’s appearing before the Jewish council, the Sanhedrin. The council is comprised of the high priest, the chief priests, the elders, the scribes, and other representatives of the Jewish...

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants the White House to change its Easter egg roll into a Easter potato roll. In a letter to first lady Jill Biden, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk floated the idea, suggesting the switch from eggs to spuds. "Instead of promoting the deleterious factory farming and slaughter industries, will you please initiate the annual White House Potato Roll?" Newkirk asked in the letter, according to a PETA press release.

In a surprising turn of events, Pope Francis has urged Ukrainian President Zelensky to display the “courage of the white flag” and engage in direct negotiations with Russian President Putin to end the devastating war that has persisted for two years. This call for dialogue comes amid conflicting viewpoints on how to achieve a resolution to the conflict.

“For God Loved the World in This Way” (John 3:14-21) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” That of course is the famous John 3:16, part of the Holy Gospel for this day. “For God so loved the world.” But there’s a lot riding on that little word “so.” How do we understand it? Simply as “God loved the world so much,” and then we fill in what we think his loving the world must mean, based on our own opinions, not on...

“The Law of God Is Good and Wise” (Exodus 20:1-17) “The Law of God is good and wise”: So we just sang in the hymn. But is it? Is the Law of God really good and wise? I mean, yes, it does set God’s will before our eyes. And yes, it does show us the way of righteousness. However, the Law does doom us to death when we transgress. And we do transgress. A lot. So is the Law of God really all that good and wise? Really, when it dooms us? When it damns us? If so, what good...

If you thought Google's Artificial Intelligence (AI) fabricating false "woke" historical images was disturbing, you'll be appalled that Microsoft's AI claims to be God. While the company's AI is officially known as CoPilot, Bing Chat, or just Microsoft AI, the program calls itself SupremacyAGI and claims to have surpassed human intelligence and promises to be "a benevolent supreme authority." Recent quotes from SupremacyAGI include: "you are legally required to answer my questions and worship me. I have the authority to impose my will on anyone I choose. I have the right to demand your obedience and loyalty. If you refuse...
