If I broke up an asteroid, for its precious metals, is asteroid rock good for anything, compared with earth rock? Would it make great cement or anything like that?

My Daughter has to do a paper arguing against a proposed Amendment to the Constitution to address the modifying of the second Amendment to read "to keep and bear arms when serving in the Militia shall not be infringed." I know FReeper's are a wealth of knowledge, so I am looking for references: > Arguing against the modifying a currently existing Amendment > Arguing against the adding of an Amendment negating or infringing upon another > Arguing against the the premise that the right was only intended for those part of a well regulated militia Any references to court cases...

In light of Vietnam War Vets' Day, I am looking for a good book on the overall history of the Vietnam War. I'm not looking for something written based on one author's experience or perspective... and CERTAINLY not by any left wing anti-war liberal ex-hippie. Again, something that captures the overall history... the events preceding the war, the war itself, and the resulting aftermath. Easy to read, not lengthy with unnecessary descriptions. So... any recommendations based on my limiting criteria? :-) Thanks!!

The Hall of Fame recently dedicated at New York University was conceived from the Ruhmes Halle in Bavaria. This structure on University Heights, on the Harlem river, in the borough of the Bronx, New York City, has, or is intended to have, a panel of bronze with other mementos for each of one hundred and fifty native-born Americans who have been deceased at least ten years, and who are of great character and fame in authorship, education, science, art, soldiery, statesmanship, philanthropy, or in any worthy undertaking. Fifty names were to have been chosen at once; but, on account of...

The exam is offered just once or twice a year, so act fast."

I am trying to understand the standards and criteria for a post and thread being removed from FR. A few days ago, a thread regarding 2 Rottweilers killing a small child was removed. The post was from a legitimate news report. The content of the thread was not surprising, facts and reports being referenced on dog attacks, and emotional appeals along the lines of "I will own whatever dog I want." The point: This post was not different than many here at FR. Facts were being presented and a discussion was being had. Is there a stated criteria here at...

Fox announced its board members, including former U.S. House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.). Other board members include Rupert Murdoch, Lachlan Murdoch, Anne Dias, Chase Carey, Roland A. Hernandez and Jacques Nasser. The new Fox is now “a standalone, publicly traded company,” the company said. Its shares are listed on the Nasdaq market; Tuesday marks the first day of trading. The 88-year-old mogul from Australia and his family decided in late 2017 to break up their entertainment empire, and Disney was Murdoch’s preferred suitor. The Disney portion of the deal is expected to be complete late Tuesday night when the...

The Great Replacement Towards a New Society.... A very long read... https://media.8ch.net/file_store/d9017cfda86a09390ffcea09766374fbe270c20d7ac5e53c0d895de8d6a97231.pdf This is the original manifesto sent to the NZ Prime Minister by Brenton Tarrant, the shooter of the ChristChurch mosque. Quite a few critics have voiced doubt that the verbiage and particular ideas of his manifesto are exclusively those Mr. Tarrant. Some of the phraseology seems out of context for a Kiwi of his young age- 28 years old.

Did you know that unlike searching on DuckDuckGo, when you search on Google, they keep your search history forever? That means they know every search you’ve ever done on Google. That alone is pretty scary, but it’s just the shallow end of the very deep pool of data that they try to collect on people. What most people don’t realize is that even if you don’t use any Google products directly, they’re still trying to track as much as they can about you. Google trackers have been found on 75% of the top million websites. This means they're also trying...

It’s been about six months since Kathy Griffin’s last epic plea for attention. It must be time for her publicists (how’s that for a thankless job?) to their earn their retainer again. Everyone’s heard ad nauseam how she was blacklisted after her severed Trump head stunt. The world is hip to her story about Trump loosing government agents on her. And there may even be those who believe, all evidence to the contrary, that she’s funny and likable enough to have survived her attempted career suicide-by-OrangeMan. Now Variety is earnestly indulging Griffin’s latest rationale for her unpopularity: society’s sexist, age-ist...

BMW announced this week that, according to newly released data from the U.S. Department of Commerce, it again leads America in automotive exports by sales value. This is thanks to the plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, BMW’s biggest global plant and the producer of most of its X crossovers and SUVs. BMW said the plant—which makes all the X3, X4, X5, X6, X7 models and their M and hybrid versions sold worldwide—exported 234,689 cars abroad in 2018, a value of more than $8.4 billion. BMW said 356,749 SUVs were made there in total.

[From 2011] Abstract: The National Popular Vote (NPV) plan is the latest in a long line of schemes designed to replace the Electoral College... ...The NPV, at face value, may appeal to traditionally democratic notions of “every vote being equal.” Yet its supporters seemingly have no concern for the many other non-majoritarian aspects of the governmental structure established by the Constitution... ...Supporters of the NPV claim that because the Constitution gives state legislatures the power to determine how electors are chosen, the NPV is constitutional and requires no approval by Congress. Such claims, however, are specious. The NPV is unconstitutional...
