The long-running feud between former President Donald Trump and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has been simmering for years, but it is starting to reach a boil. Not only have the midterm primary results been decidedly in Trump's favor vs. McConnell candidates, but now Trump wants "a new Republican leader in the Senate to be picked immediately," he wrote in a pointed Save America PAC statement posted Wednesday to Truth Social."The Democrats have Mitch McConnell and his lovely wife, Elaine 'Coco' Chao, over a barrel," the statement began. "He and she will never be prosecuted, as per the last paragraphs...

The Republican National Committee (RNC) has recently sent out a press release calling Florida gubernatorial candidate, Rep. Charlie Crist (D-FL) the “Joe Biden of Florida.” Rep.Crist, who has a longer political career than his Democratic primary opponent Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried (D-FL), is known by most as the establishment candidate. Crist also served as Governor of Florida (as a Republican) and has been in politics since becoming a state senator in 1993. President Joe Biden (D) has been in the public eye for a long time as well – 50 years in fact – after being elected to the...

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell just said the quiet part out loud -- he's throwing Trump-endorsed Republican candidates under the campaign bus. “I think there’s probably a greater likelihood the House flips than the Senate. Senate races are just different — they're statewide, candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome,” he said last week in Kentucky. “Right now, we have a 50-50 Senate and a 50-50 country, but I think when all is said and done this fall, we’re likely to have an extremely close Senate, either our side up slightly or their side up slightly.” I...

President Donald Trump blasted Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) as a “broken down hack” just days after the Senate Minority Leader questioned whether the GOP would be able to flip the chamber in November’s midterm elections. “Why do Republicans Senators allow a broken down hack politician, Mitch McConnell, to openly disparage hard working Republican candidates for the United States Senate,” Trump said on his Truth Social media site late Saturday. “This is such an affront to honor and to leadership. He should spend more time (and money!) helping them get elected, and less time helping his crazy wife and family get...

"McConnell is telling you now what people like me have been telling you for years — the GOP would rather lose to Democrats than lose control of the party to its base,” tweeted Steve Deace, an influential conservative talk show host. “That’s what ‘electable’ means — someone they approve of. Ditch would rather have [Arizona Democratic Sen. Mark] Kelly than [Republican challenger Blake] Masters, for example.” Fellow radio host John Fredericks also said McConnell “has given up because he doesn’t want Trump candidates to win.” “McConnell would rather lose the Senate than win with primary candidates he tried to knife....

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell expressed concern Thursday about Republicans’ ability to take back the Senate during the upcoming November midterms, as polls show GOP candidates trailing Democrats in key races. “I think there’s probably a greater likelihood the House flips than the Senate. Senate races are just different, they’re statewide, candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome,” McConnell told reporters, according to Frank Thorp V of NBC News.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday called for a “thorough and immediate explanation” after the FBI executed a search warrant at former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence Monday. “Attorney General Garland and the Department of Justice should already have provided answers to the American people and must do so immediately,” McConnell said in a statement. The Tuesday evening comments were the first time McConnell had weighed in the Florida raid.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Tuesday dodged a question about the FBI's Monday search of former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home during a Kentucky press conference. "I'm here to talk about the flood and recovery from the flood," McConnell, R-Ky., said when asked about the raid. [cut] The minority leader's refusal to talk about the search warrant served on Trump's private home comes as Senate GOP leadership has been slower than their House counterparts to comment on the raid.

If Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) once again become majority leader following the midterm election, what would the first 90 days look like? “Well, we will be looking for things that we can do for the country, no matter who’s in the White House,” McConnell told Fox News’s Bret Baier Wednesday night. “But I think you can say this. If there’s a Republican House and Senate next year, Joe Biden will finally become the moderate he promised the American people he would be when he ran for president, because he would have no choice.” McConnell defended Republican support for the recent...

Establishment Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) is underwater with Alaskan Republican voters, according to a Monday Morning Consult poll. Only 41 percent approved of Murkowski’s job performance, while 46 percent disapproved. The polling comes as Murkowski, who is supported by Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), hopes to defeat Donald Trump-endorsed Kelly Tshibaka in the August 16 Republican primary. In March polling, Murkowski trailed Tshibaka (45.4 to 28.7 percent). Murkowski’s campaign has been flooded with donations from large political action groups. Murkowski ended the second quarter with $6.1 million in her campaign account with a second quarter raise of $1.7 million. In contrast,...

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said in an interview with USA Today a national abortion ban is “possible” if Roe v. Wade gets overturned this summer. “If the leaked opinion became the final opinion, legislative bodies — not only at the state level but at the federal level — certainly could legislate in that area,” McConnell told USA Today when asked if a national abortion ban is “worthy of debate.”

After Kerry laid out some of the administration’s goals, Mitchell wanted to know about concrete steps. While doing so she lamented that world events have caused gas prices to raise and people don’t like high gas prices: You know, let's—let’s-- agree that he has laid out, you know, some extraordinary goals and made some promises and that Congress does hold a lot of this in their hands. But, but there have been big events, like the war and, you know, Russian sanctions, the sanctions on Russian oil and he's had to go to the strategic reserves and put out more...

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is fighting to fend off a pro-Trump challenger to Sen. Lisa Murkowski, flooding airwaves with ads defending the Alaska Republican’s record. The Senate Leadership Fund, the super PAC associated with Mr. McConnell, said Monday that it booked more than $7 million worth of ad time in Alaska to boost Ms. Murkowski. “It’s important for Lisa to be reelected. She’s one of the few … moderates in the middle of the Senate,” Mr. McConnell told Axios this week. The GOP leader added that Ms. Murkowski had been a “key player” to advance bipartisan legislation and that...

GOP Gov. Chris Sununu of New Hampshire said Donald Trump is “crazy” and joked that if the former Republican president was admitted to a mental hospital, “he ain't getting out!” Sununu skewered Trump during the Gridiron Club’s spring dinner Saturday night, an annual Washington gathering featuring skits and speeches from Democrats, Republicans and journalists that are expected to “singe” but “not burn” the capital's political elite. “He’s (expletive) crazy!” Sununu said in salty remarks that roasted members of both parties as well as the Washington journalists who cover them. The governor added: "The press often will ask me if I...

Donald Trump, GOP Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said this week that he is fine with Republican candidates who support the former president as long as they can win their elections. Trump has repeatedly attacked McConnell in public statements since McConnell condemned the former president last year for inciting his supporters to attack the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. "There is no question that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of that day," McConnell said in a Senate floor speech on February 13, 2021.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), who famously refused to give the last Democratic Supreme Court nominee a Senate hearing or vote, on Thursday said he’s ready to give President Biden’s pick to the high court “a fair look.” While some conservatives are already taking shots at Biden for pledging to consider only a Black woman to replace retiring liberal Justice Stephen Breyer, McConnell is keeping his powder dry until the nominee is known.
