Gunnery Sergeant Nick Popaditch is a candidate for Congress in California district 52. This is his speech in San Diego on May 28.

When Nick Popaditch wins in California’s 51st District, late in the evening November 2 or early in the morning November 3, remember who was mentioning him as a promising candidate way back on March 12. Why am I confidently predicting a win by a little-known underfunded Republican in a D+8 district against a nine-term incumbent? Because a confident incumbent’s campaign doesn’t do things like this: Republican Congressional Candidate Nick Popaditch is responding to an ad Congressman Bob Filner is running about his voting record. The ad Filner is running claims Popaditch has not voted for more than 11 years, but...

I’m going to keep this high on the page all weekend, and maybe into Monday: Nick Popaditch. Given a choice between Nick Popaditch in Congress and a Jets win in the Super Bowl . . . well, I think the Jets are built to have a lot of good years ahead. Let’s get Nick in Congress starting January. Help him out now; he’s already done a lot for you. UPDATE: This was posted over the weekend; I want the Monday crew to notice this excellent candidate.

Imperial, California - The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) PAC has announced its endorsement of Congressman Bob Filner over Republican Candidate Nick Popaditch for the 2010 General Election. The VFW-PAC becomes the most recent veterans group to endorse Congressman Filner. “The VFW-PAC’s endorsement of Congressman Filner was based on his strong support for veterans, national security and defense, and military personnel issues,” said Salvatore J. Capirchio, Veterans of Foreign War-PAC Director. “My proudest service in Congress is being Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Committee. Veterans have made incredible sacrifices for our country and they should be...

We have hope in 51 st District, Southern part of San Diego/Chula Vista BORDER AREA etc. Nick Popaditch (R) Marine Veteran is running against incumbent Bob Filner (D). Popaditch is the famous cigar smoking tank commander shown at the tear down of the Statue of Saddam Hussein in Iraq. Filner refuses to hold Town Halls and debate Popaditch. Filner is one of the most liberal reps in the House. Grassroots are working hard for Popaditch. People of all parties are marching in front of Filner's Chula Vista Office every Thursday afternoon until he debates Nick... Everyone welcome, let's shame Filner...

25 Comments Nick Popaditch Nick Popaditch is running for Congress. Previous occupation? Gunnery Sergeant, USMC. That patch he wears? Not preparing for Talk like a Pirate day, but rather a wound at Fallujah. His district? California’s 51st. Oh yes, that district. Inland California tends to be right-leaning, but Imperial County is one big exception. It’s a poor expanse of desert along the Mexican border stretching from Arizona to San Diego County. Since redistricting shifted the seat’s number from 50 to 51, Democrat Bob Filner won by 19, 26, 27, and 48 points. This is not friendly territory, so it’s good...

As we celebrate Independence Day this July 4th, let us not forget why we do so... Our Founding Fathers took a stand for liberty and boldly declared their independence 234 years ago. They stood against tyranny, against taxation without representation, and against subjugation of their individual rights. They risked their lives and their property for a voice. They declared intrepidly that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness were God-given rights and not granted from a King. They knew that our rights come from God. No Congressman, Senator, or President can take them away from you. Our Founding Fathers paid...

The Imperial Valley Press is being criticized by some readers who believe a political cartoon mocked the injuries of a decorated Iraq war veteran who is running for Congress. The cartoon, published Saturday, shows a poster of candidate Nick Popaditch, who has a patch over his right eye. Two youths with skateboards seem perplexed by the poster "What does that remind you of?" one says. The other answers: "A James Bond super villain? A bald pirate? Uncle Fester with an eye patch." Popaditch, a Marine gunnery sergeant, lost the sight in his right eye during the battle for Fallouja in...

Nick was a career marine who first served his nation in combat as a Sergeant during Operation: Desert Shield and Storm – after an Honorable Discharge – he decided to re-enlist and returned to the front lines in Operation: Iraqi Freedom. Nick’s willingness to serve is testament to his character and heart. Now, Nick is once again going to serve and protect the liberties that make this nation truly exceptional, this time from liberals in Washington. Californians deserve a leader like Nick who’ll...

Marine Veteran of the War in Iraq talks of the sacrifices of his fellow Vets for the freedoms and liberties we enjoy as Americans. Now Popaditch is making a sacrifice of another kind, challenging a longtime entrenched Democrat Congressman in a southern California district, for Congress. (District 51 - El Centro to El Cajon to suburbs of San Diego). Popaditch is a staunch Pro-Defense libertarian Republican.

AJM: Hello Congressman, how are you? DH: Hello Jim. I’m doing great. But listen, I only have about 10 minutes here. I’m heading into a function in just a few minutes. So you’ll have to be fast. AJM: OK. First of all, I have to tell you I won’t be able to make it to Idaho on Friday for your event. I have a First Aid/CPR class that is mandatory for my job, that has to be renewed every two years. So I’ll be here, in Seattle. DH: Well, doggone it. It’ll be a lot of fun. AJM: Are you...
