Women turned out from around the country during the fourth iteration of the Women’s March, where thousands marched in downtown D.C. Saturday morning. Though an estimated 10,000 marchers attended it was a steep decrease from the first Women’s March that took place the day after President Donald Trump’s inauguration. The latest pink-hatted protest opposing the current presidency kicked off at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren made a bizarre speech Friday to the liberal group Annie’s List in which referenced marching in “pink pussy hats.” “Women know what it’s like to get talked over in meetings, passed over for promotions, and screwed over in salary negotiations–nevertheless, we persist.” “We persist. We persist and we march! We march in pink pussy hats,” she said while waving her arms around.

With hard news relatively scarce on this Boxing Day, I turned—for my sins—to the opinion page of the New York Times. And there I found Paul Krugman’s Christmas Day column. His latest jeremiad was curiously entitled “America Is Not Yet Lost.” If this is the optimistic Krugman, I’d hate to see the glum one! My headline reflects my pick for Krugman’s most atrocious line.
