Tiana Berardi was denied an appointment with her doctor because she wasn't vaccinated. She's since filed a professional misconduct complaint with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.. Tiana Berardi never got to see her family doctor. But she had followed the directions of her physician in a telephone appointment the day before. The Lower Sackville woman had lingering bronchitis and her antibiotics had run out. Her doctor wanted to have a closer look and asked Berardi to book an in-person appointment at the clinic. She did and got a checkup scheduled for the following afternoon. Except her...

Letter to Physicians: Have You Checked Your 1947 Nuremberg Code Today? Dear Ladies and Gentlemen of the Medical Profession: I’m old enough to remember when physicians were held in regard like deacons. Medicine was understood to be “not just a profession but a calling” (as the cliché ran). It was not uncommon to see a car parked haphazardly with a “Physician on Call” sign on the dashboard, and no one gave it a second thought, such was the regard for medical doctors. Watch re-runs of MASH for fine illustration of how this “calling” was once understood to act as a...

Doctors and nurses should tell their patients to fight climate change, experts have said. Writing in the Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health, they said medics should wield their 'trusted' positions in society to get people to take care of the planet. Academics wrote that health professionals could be 'effective messengers' and help encourage more people to fight climate change.

It happened again yesterday, twice. Reading through comments on a blog post I found this: "I will never trust another doctor again." I long ago lost count of the number of times I have seen that written. You hear it, too. In private conversations with people they trust, American citizens are heaping contempt on doctors for forcing a narrative on us that had no basis in science. Many of us, perhaps even the majority, immediately recognized this virus for what it is -- a common flu virus maybe engineered to be more contagious if not more fatal but hardly differing...

A group of South Florida doctors walked out of their hospital Monday to protest the surge in COVID-19 hospitalizations among the unvaccinated. The doctors walked out just before sunrise in an effort to encourage residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine, saying they are fatigued from working so hard during the latest surge. “We are exhausted. Our patience and resources are running low and we need your help,” Dr. Rupesh Dharia from Palm Beach Internal Medicine told NBC 8.

Of the 700 physicians responding to an internet survey by the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS), nearly 60 percent said they were not “fully vaccinated” against COVID.This contrasts with the claim by the American Medical Association that 96 percent of practicing physicians are fully vaccinated. This was based on 300 respondents.Neither survey represents a random sample of all American physicians, but the AAPS survey shows that physician support for the mass injection campaign is far from unanimous.“It is wrong to call a person who declines a shot an ‘anti-vaxxer,’” states AAPS executive director Jane Orient, M.D. “Virtually no...

The physicians' plan would single out Black and 'Latinx' patients in 'fight for racial justice in medicine.'Critical Race Theory influenced the physicians' support for 'medical restitution' and 'federal reparations.'Harvard Medical School instructors Bram Wispelwey and Michelle Morse argue in a Boston Review article that race should be used as a determining factor in how heart failure patients are treated. They write that the necessary "proactively antiracist agenda for medicine" should be direct, and the solution they propose could reach patients exactly at the point of care: "a preferential admission option for Black and Latinx heart failure patients to our specialty...

We are a broad and diverse group of Canadian physicians from across Canada who are sending out this urgent declaration to the Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons of our various Provinces and Territories and to the Public at large, whom we serve. On April 30, 2021, Ontario’s physician licensing body, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), issued a statement forbidding physicians from questioning or debating any or all of the official measures imposed in response to COVID-19. 1 The CPSO then went on to threaten physicians with punishment – investigations and disciplinary action. We regard this recent...

One of five physicians in front-line treatment roles has prescribed hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19, according to a new survey from health care market research company InCrowd. The most common treatments were acetaminophen, prescribed to 82% of patients, antibiotics (41%), and bronchodilators (40%), InCrowd said after surveying 203 primary care physicians, pediatricians, and emergency medicine or critical care physicians who are treating at least 20 patients with flulike symptoms. On April 24, the Food and Drug Administration warned against the use of hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine outside of hospitals and clinical trials. The InCrowd survey, which took place April 14-15 and is the...

The malaria drug hydroxychloroquine has improved the survival and recovery odds for about 90 percent of patients treated with the controversial medication, a physicians group claims. The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) presented data on 2,333 patients treated with hydroxychloroquine - including two supervised by Dr Oz - across the globe that shows 91.6 percent of those who got the drug fared better after treatment. In a letter to Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, the group urged that doctors should not wait for results of gold standard tests of the drug to start using it in coronavirus patients and...

TUSCON, Ariz., April 28, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In a letter to Gov. Doug Ducey of Arizona, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) presents a frequently updated table of studies that report results of treating COVID-19 with the anti-malaria drugs chloroquine (CQ) and hydroxychloroquine (HCQ, Plaquenil®). To date, the total number of reported patients treated with HCQ, with or without zinc and the widely used antibiotic azithromycin, is 2,333, writes AAPS, in observational data from China, France, South Korea, Algeria, and the U.S. Of these, 2,137 or 91.6 percent improved clinically. There were 63 deaths, all but 11...

According to CNN, we are "jerks." In some states, we may be criminals. Our infraction? We are doctors who have prescribed hydroxychloroquine, a generic autoimmune medication, to ourselves and our patients in an attempt to prevent or treat COVID-19. Each of us had a child diagnosed with the disease. Neither of us contracted it ourselves, despite close contact. Whether HCQ is effective at preventing and treating COVID-19 is beside the point. Some studies suggest that it helps. Others indicate that it does not. Although its effectiveness can be debated, physicians' right to prescribe it, or any other medication they see...

A new survey from Jackson & Coker shows an overwhelming majority of doctors would prescribe hydroxychloroquine or another anti-malaria drug to a family member suffering from Wuhan coronavirus. "Sixty-five percent of physicians across the United States said they would prescribe the anti-malaria drugs chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine to treat or prevent COVID-19 in a family member," the survey, which questioned 1,271 doctors in 50 states, found. "Only 11 percent said they would not use the drug at all." In addition, a significant number of doctors said they would prescribe the drugs to those exposed to the virus as a preventative measure...

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hydroxychloroquine, a widely available and inexpensive drug initially used for malaria as well as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, has been the subject of intense medical and political debate as researchers work quickly to determine its ability to fight coronavirus. According to this weekÂ’s Sermo COVID-19 Real Time Barometer of 5,158 physicians, one-quarter of global physicians agree that healthcare workers should take hydroxychloroquine to prevent COVID-19 infections with 50% having used or seen hydroxychloroquine used in their professional settings since March 25, 2020. There is little data about the efficacy of hydroxychloroquine, and the Centers for Disease Control...

Our Nation is tremendously grateful for all Americans who have chosen the noble profession of healing and caring for others. This is especially true as our extraordinary doctors and other talented medical professionals have collectively risen to the challenge of combating the coronavirus pandemic in communities large and small across the United States. This year in particular, on National Doctors Day, we recognize the remarkable men and women who treat their fellow Americans, find cures for the diseases and illnesses we face, and never waver in their efforts to treat every patient with the dignity, respect, and empathy they deserve.As...

Two weeks ago, the New Hampshire Academy of Family Physicians sent Gov. Chris Sununu a letter that implored him to sign three gun violence prevention bills, House Bills 514, 109, and 564. Instead, the governor vetoed all three. At this point, we urge the House and Senate to overturn his veto and pass these critical bills into law. After the governor’s veto of these bills, we feel the need to write this piece to illuminate why we think these measures are so important to our state and nation. As family physicians, we see the consequences of gun violence every day...

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the chairman of the Judiciary Committee, is working to set up separate phone calls with Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, before a committee vote scheduled for Thursday. "Given the late addendum to the background file and revelations of Dr. Ford’s identity, Chairman Grassley is actively working to set up such follow-up calls with Judge Kavanaugh and Dr. Ford ahead of Thursday’s scheduled vote," a spokesman for Grassley said on Sunday. The aide added that "the Chairman and Ranking Member routinely hold bipartisan staff calls with nominees when updates are made...

During the White House press briefing Tuesday afternoon, Rear Admiral Dr. Ronny Jackson reported on the details of President Trump's recent physical, which was conducted last week at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington D.C. "His health is excellent right now," Jackson said. "He's fit for duty for the remainder of this term and another term if he is elected." "All clinical data indicates that the President is currently very healthy, and that he will remain so for the duration of his presidency," he continued. "The purpose of the exam was to provide the public with an update of...
