TOPEKA (AP) | Operation Rescue has filed two complaints with state agencies, accusing Attorney General Paul Morrison of violating campaign and attorney ethics during his affair with former subordinate Linda Carter. The anti-abortion group's president, Troy Newman, said Wednesday the complaints were filed with the Governmental Ethics Commission and the Office of the Disciplinary Administrator. Neither agency would confirm the complaints were filed, citing state law against doing so. Operation Rescue alleges that Morrison used his relationship with Carter to protect Wichita abortion provider Dr. George Tiller and Planned Parenthood of Mid-Missouri and Kansas.

Silence can sometimes be golden. Gov. Kathleen Sebelius would do well to remember that the next time she is tempted to defend Paul Morrison. Sebelius recently commended Morrison for his professional accomplishments while attorney general. At the same time, she couldn't resist taking a swipe at Morrison's predecessor, Phill Kline. Sebelius said recently that Morrison proved himself a capable attorney general but let personal conduct undermine his professional accomplishments. We're not buying the spin. And as far as Kline is concerned — we sometimes wonder how far the Democratic Party will go in attempting to discredit the Republican former attorney...

Attorney General Paul Morrison and mistress Linda Carter kept in close touch during their extramarital affair, leaving a trail of evidence pinpointing when their long-distance romance came to a bitter end. At the time, he was serving as the state's top law enforcement officer in Topeka and she was director of administration in the Johnson County district...

In the twilight of their extramarital affair, Linda Carter urged Paul Morrison to let her go, repair his shattered marriage and resolve his hatred of Phill Kline. If not, Carter said, Morrison's life would remain a powder keg. A destructive fireball, when eventually triggered, would consume all in his wake: wife, children, friends, colleagues — even Carter. In announcing his resignation Friday, Attorney General Paul Morrison says he has been working "to get right" with God, his family and his friends. Morrison chose not to make peace with Kline. He made intermittent attempts to console his family, but he also...

Kathleen Sebelius said today. Sebelius said that she wanted the facts to play out, and that she wasn’t calling for his resignation. She noted that Morrison has accepted responsibility for the affair, but that if the allegations about his professional conduct are true, it’s a different mater.
