Mitt Romney on Monday laughed at Newt Gingrich’s suggestion that he is a weak frontrunner who is failing to win over conservatives, saying of the former House speaker, “If I’m a weak frontrunner, what does that make Newt Gingrich? Because I’m well ahead of him.” Celebrating his 65th birthday on the campaign trail in Mobile, Ala., Romney said in an apperance on “Fox & Friends” that he finds it “funny listening to these guys” trying to attack his standing in the 2012 race. “They’re saying what they wish were the case but happens not to be the case. Don’t forget...

A lot of people have been calling for Santorum or Newt to get out. I say that is bunk and here's why. If one does pull out, that leaves Romney in first or second place in ALL the rest of the states. If Santorum and Newt can win 1st and 2nd in many of the remaining states, that pushes Romney to the back of the bus, or at least slows his delegate count, so I think both need to stay. The fewer delegates Romney wins the better! Why do you think he's calling for everybody else to get out? Because...

Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich on Friday called on Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta to resign, rebuking him for telling a congressional panel that the U.S. would “seek international permission” before intervening in the ongoing bloodshed in Syria. “I have been told that the secretary of defense has suggested that international agreements override the Congress,” Gingrich told supporters in Gulfport, Mississippi. “If he believes that, he should resign tonight.” Responding to a statement that the U.S. was placing military resolutions of the United Nations, NATO and the Arab League ahead of those made by Congress, Panetta told the Senate Armed Services...

WASHINGTON -- Newt Gingrich says Mitt Romney is the weakest GOP front-runner since 1920, but his sizeable campaign fund allows him to run well in races where his rivals don't have the resources to campaign. The former House speaker told "Fox News Sunday" that Romney's money allows him to buy plenty of advertising time that puts him ahead of the pack at first, but his rivals catch up "pretty rapidly" as they campaign.

...WALLACE: The polls show a surprisingly close race Tuesday in Alabama and Mississippi. Question -- are you going to win them both? GINGRICH: I think we'll win both. We are campaigning very aggressively on both states. As almost everywhere, you start a little behind because of Romney's money and the length of time he's advertising. And as you campaign, you catch up with him pretty rapidly, and I think we're probably polling ahead in both states right now. We have great organizations in both states and in particular in Alabama where Senate Majority Leader Jabo Waggoner has put together a...

Santorum Blasts Gingrich Over 'Romneycare' Chris Welch Springfield, Missouri (CNN) – It's a common aspect of Republican Rick Santorum's stump: attacking Mitt Romney for creating - and then "recommending" - "Romneycare" to President Barack Obama. But Saturday, fresh off his projected win in the Kansas caucuses, Santorum added that GOP presidential rival Newt Gingrich is "honestly not a whole lot better." "For 20 years when I was pushing medical savings accounts, he was pushing a federal mandate for health insurance," Santorum said. "And when 'Romneycare' passed, he sent out a glowing statement talking about how this wonderful bill had just...

This wouldn't be the first time the media missed the real story. In the wake of a split Super Tuesday, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum scored wins against each other, but it was former Speaker Newt Gingrich who single-handedly drove President Obama into panic mode... And then there was Newt Gingrich, the Lazarus of the presidential campaign, as the Drudge Report recently called him, ready to rise once again. While the mainstream media stayed focused on the game of checkers between Mr. Romney and Mr. Santorum, Mr. Gingrich forced President Obama into an astonishing game of chess. In a 30-minute...

Gingrich Says He Will Stay in GOP Race Even If He Loses Mississippi, Alabama March 10, 2012 ELLISVILLE, Miss. – Spurning calls for him to get out, Newt Gingrich insisted Friday that he'll stay in the race for the Republican presidential nomination even if he loses two Southern primaries next week. (snip) Gingrich said he intended to campaign all the way to the Republican National Convention in August, regardless of whether he has won the 1,144 delegates needed to clinch the nomination. His comments contradicted assertions by a key aide that Gingrich must win both states to remain viable. Asked...

A two-and-a-half-hour drive couldn’t separate Patricia Tayman from Newt Gingrich’s rally in Dothan. The Pensacola, Fla., resident left Sunday’s event with a smile on her face, confident Gingrich is the right man to lead the country in the years to come. “I’m psyched, and I’m just praying he can pull it off in Mississippi and Alabama and get back ahead of things,” she said. “I’ve watched the different debates, and after seeing him in person, I’m behind him 100 percent now.” Enterprise resident Tracy Bullinger said her trip to the Circle City was worth it as well. “I did not...

<p>There was an overflow crowd greeting Newt Gingrich when he arrived at the Wiregrass Museum of Art in the southeast corner of Alabama on Saturday.</p>
<p>Looking over the hundreds of people packed into the gallery area and spilling down the steps in the main lobby, Gingrich enthused, "What a crowd. I'm really impressed. There must be no one left at Wal-Mart this afternoon."</p>

DOTHAN, Alabama — Republican Newt Gingrich is counting on a win in Alabama’s primary Tuesday. The former House speaker attended five campaign events Saturday and stressed his Southern connections. Gingrich served 20 years in Congress from Georgia and won that state’s primary last Tuesday. Gingrich poked at top rival Mitt Romney, who drew snickers last week when he told a campaign audience he’d eaten cheesy grits for breakfast. Gingrich said familiarity with grits is essential to understanding Southern culture.

Rick Santorum won’t be winning any delegates in four of Illinois’ 18 congressional districts next month. But, at least in the 13th District, it won’t be because he didn’t try. On Jan. 6, the state filing deadline, a Santorum volunteer had brought to the board of elections an envelope containing nominating petitions for a slate of three Santorum delegates in the 13th, the State Journal-Register reports. But the petitions were never submitted. A volunteer inadvertently failed to take them out of the envelope, the Journal Register reports, and the envelope wound up in the trash. Even if those petitions had...

Romney is running out of excuses as the layers of lies about his position on socialized medicine peel away like an onion. There's not much -left- to cover up and his last attempt to differentiate from Obamacare begs One Question:
