No, this isn't some sort of twisted Freddy Krueger nightmare. That really is Newt Gingrich up there swinging the speaker's gavel -- or is it a sledgehammer? It would be nice to say that the voters didn't know what they were doing when they bounced you to the bleachers in November. But they did. The record may show that they tossed the Democrats out, but it was really the liberals they were after. After 40 years, the labels had become interchangeable. The conservatives will get the same grace period the class of '92 got -- two years. If they can't...

Ex-Alaska topper tells Fox Business Network Gingrich is being "vilified" by GOP elites and the media. Palin: "Look at Newt Gingrich, what’s going on with him, via the establishment’s attacks. They’re trying to crucify this man and rewrite history, and rewrite what it is that he has stood for all these years."

MOUNT DORA, Fla. -- Newt Gingrich trained his full arsenal of weaponry on Mitt Romney at a rally here Thursday morning, charging that his opponent wouldn't stand up to President Obama in a general election and questioning his commitment to the GOP. It was the harshest critique Gingrich has leveled to date and may be a reflection of his slackened showing in the polls. It also underscored Gingrich's strategy of capitalizing on the free media and momentum he tends to capture in debates; tonight CNN is hosting the final debate before Florida voters render their judgment on Tuesday, and the...

TAMPA, Fla. — As the Republican race moves to a state defined by the extremes in recession-era America — where the underwater and unemployed live just a few miles from the 1 percent — a sharp class divide is emerging between the two top contenders. Mitt Romney’s crowds look like something out of the president’s suite at a University of Florida football game — prosperous, trim, Tattersall-clad, and supportive but not rowdy. Newt Gingrich supporters, with their spray-painted signs, American flag tees, flip-flops and fanny packs, more closely resemble a group that would fit in nicely playing a few bucks...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: How long's it gonna be, folks, before we start seeing billboards all over, Florida, other upcoming primary states with Rick Perry on 'em saying, "Miss me yet?" How long's that gonna be? You remember when they had the George Bush billboards, "Miss me yet?" a couple months into the regime? Anyway, great to have you here, folks, already Thursday, fastest week in the media. Goes even faster when one of the days you spend 12 hours, ten hours, whatever it was, in an airplane, like I did? Great to have you here, as always, it really is...

Ronald Reagan’s eldest son Mike Reagan has issued a statement lambasting Mitt Romney and his supporters for claims that Romney’s Republican presidential rival Newt Gingrich was a strong critic of President Reagan. Reagan says such claims are false. Even Rush Limbaugh, shocked by the Romney claims, chimed on his Thursday radio broadcast to say "This is obviously a coordinated attack to take Newt out here in Florida." Rush slammed the Romney-backed smear campaign against Newt. “That kind of stuff is why people hate Romney so much," Limbaugh said. Limbaugh added that Newt has always been a conservative from his early...

I like Elliott Abrams. Big time. But…gee. Elliott…Elliott…Elliott. Mr. Abrams is in the news for this piece over at National Review Online Sounds saleable, yes? Ex-Reagan State Department aide cites Newt criticism on Reagan. There's a problem with this story. [Snip] Never… not once… did Elliott Abrams ever say to me something along the lines of "that SOB Newt said X." Never. I never heard it from Elliott, and perhaps even more to the point I never heard it from a colleague in our office. One would hear things about, say, then Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter or some such. The...

The TEA Party of Florida endorsed Newt Gingrich in the Florida presidential primary, saying the former House speaker has "articulated direct and serious steps designed to reduce spending, cut our deficits, pay down our national debt, and return liberty to our citizens in doing so." Reconstituted from the party whose candidates garnered 310,000 votes in 20 races in 2010, TEA is pursuing a broader outreach strategy this year. Chairman John Long said that in addition to fielding its own slate of candidates, the party plans to endorse like-minded candidates from the major parties in other selected races. "People ask us,...

Newt Gingrich stirred a huge tea party crowd in this central Florida town Thursday by accusing Mitt Romney and the Republican establishment of slinging “mud” and “junk” because “they’re against change in Washington.” Using the word “stupid” at least a dozen times to describe how Romney views voters, Gingrich said his rival’s negative ads about Gingrich’s consulting work for the mortgage giant Freddie Mac are dishonest and hypocritical — and represent a desperate attempt by the establishment to block Gingrich’s campaign. “Well, I’m here as a citizen, and I frankly don’t care what the Washington establishment thinks of me because...

Former Senate Majority Leader — and 1996 GOP Presidential nominee – Bob Dole just tore into Newt Gingrich with an open letter that violates Reagan’s 11th Commandment so many times, Bob Dole will be in the confessional until Easter. ... .. Hardly anyone who served with Newt in Congress has endorsed him and that fact speaks for itself. He was a one-man-band who rarely took advice. It was his way or the highway. ... Gingrich had a new idea every minute and most of them were off the wall. He loved picking a fight with Bill Clinton because he knew...

Drudge versus history Posted by William A. Jacobson Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 9:31am Politico’s homepage top headline is The right drops a bomb on Newt featuring photos of Ann Coulter, Tom DeLay, Elliot Abrams and Matt Drudge.Just like in December, the rise of Newt has caused panic in Republican circles. In December the charge was led by National Review, and now it’s being led by Matt Drudge, as reflected in this image from Marooned in Marin: For several days Drudge has been running almost around-the-clock negative banners against Newt, hyping negatives and burying news which contradicts the Romney campaign narrative that Newt was anti-Reagan.Against...

After nearly a week on the defensive, CNN's John King reports tonight that Newt Gingrich's claim about offering witnesses to ABC News in his defense — to rebut the network's interview with his second wife, Marianne Gingrich — was not true. "Tonight, after persistent questioning by our staff, the Gingrich campaign concedes now Speaker Gingrich was wrong — both in his debate answer, and in our interview yesterday," King said on tonight's edition of John King USA. "Gingrich spokesman R.C. Hammond says the only people the Gingrich campaign offered to ABC were his two daughters from his first marriage." An...

Lake County, FL – Newt 2012 FL announced the formal support of more than 30 Florida based Tea Party leaders who have pledged their support to Newt Gingrich for President of the United States. The coalition of Florida Tea Party Leaders will help elect Newt and defeat Massachusetts Moderate Mitt Romney and then President Barack Obama. “I’ve considered all the candidates, and Speaker Gingrich has the right combination of vision and experience to lead this country out of the economic misery created by government overreach that has been occurring for generations,” said Peter Lee, Founder and Director of the East...

Forget the indirect attacks and distant exchanges between the Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich campaigns through the media. The Romney campaign pledged this week to run a “a full racketing operation,” right in Gingrich territory. A source close to the campaign told ABC News there will be a Romney surrogate at every public Gingrich event in Florida standing by to rebut Gingrich’s speeches to the media. “The campaign is entering a phase now where we are defining the terms of the Florida race,” a Romney staffer said. The staffer said it wasn’t a sign of fear on the Romney campaign’s...

This morning I authored a Vanity Post declaring that under no circumstance would I vote for Romney. Even though I am a lifelong Republican and have NEVER voted for a Democrat in my 60+ years, I am finished with the biased liberal media (including Fox) and the Republican establishment selecting my (losing) candidate. Here are some of my reasons: In 1976, a sitting MODERATE Republican president named Gerald R. Ford ran against a two-bit peanut farming liberal Georgia governor and LOST. 1n 1992, a sitting MODERATE Republican president named George Bush ran against a liberal Arkansas governor with a history...

Thanks to Dan Riehl for this. There’s a short excerpt of a 1988 C-SPAN video purportedly showing Newt Gingrich bashing Reagan when talking about how Bush, Sr. should run. As I suspected, it’s edited to give a false impression. What you don’t see is immediately after when Gingrich praises Reaganism and the Reagan platform. If you can’t watch it all, it begins at about 2:30 in to confirm it’s the same segment. It’s the minute or two afterward you also need to hear to understand that Newt wasn’t bashing Reagan at all. See Video here...go viral.

So much for Matt being fair and balanced and showing just headlines and stories others will not...no...he has 14 stories front and center all anti-Newt right now. No excuse for this...not even ABC/NBC/CBS have 14 anti-Newt stories on their front page. Bias? What bias? Conservatives can trust about nobody in media today and this proves exactly why.
