Attorneys representing the family of Ahmed “clock kid” Mohamed sent a letter to Irving, Texas, officials demanding $10 million in compensation for “damages” and written apologies from the city’s mayor and police chief. snip After making appearances at a number of high-profile locations, including the White House, Mohamed and his family moved to Qatar. “For personal security reasons, Ahmed and family are in Doha, Qatar. However, when they feel safe again, all of them want more than anything to come home, to Irving, Texas,” the letter states.

Last month Ahmed, the teen who was arrested after teachers mistook a clock he built for a bomb, was invited to visit NASA, MIT, and the White House. Now the Cambridge Public Library is inviting the city’s teens to “Stand with Ahmed” by learning to build their own clocks.

“Clock boy” Ahmed Mohamed made it to Mecca Friday for umrah, the Arabic word for pilgrimage, the portion of his Middle Eastern tour sponsored by the Saudi government. The trip also included the 14-year-old’s parents and other relatives, including one uncle who pushed the Islamophobia narrative. The uncle, identified by Arab News as Moussa Al-Hassan, asserted: “The ordinary American citizen lives in a state of fear of Arabs because of the American media’s portrayal of him as an extremist terrorist.”

On Wednesday night, Fox News host Megyn Kelly reported on a “disturbing new twist” in the story of Ahmed Mohamed, the Texas teenager who became an overnight celebrity after officials at his high school took precautions and treated his homemade clock as a possible hoax bomb.

Ahmed Mohamed, 14, was sitting in his Irving, Texas, English class when an alarm went off inside a briefcase the youngster had with him. When he opened the briefcase to turn off the alarm his teacher went to inspect the device, which did not look like a “clock,” but more like a homemade improvised explosive device – the kind of contraption that would never make it, for instance, through a TSA airport check.

Earlier this month, a 13-year-old boy in Maryland faced an assault charge after authorities say he kissed a 14-year-old classmate on a dare at school. He's being charged with second-degree assault as a juvenile. He has not, as yet, been invited to the White House. This video shows that the supposed clock invention by a 14 year old is in fact not an invention. The 'clock' is a commercial bedside alarm clock removed from its casing. There is nothing to indicate that the clock was even assembled by the child. I suspect this was brought into school to create an alarmed reaction.
